Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
Version
Psalm 31:9-16

Be gracious to me, Lord,
because I am in distress;(A)
my eyes are worn out from angry sorrow—
my whole being[a] as well.(B)
10 Indeed, my life is consumed with grief
and my years with groaning;(C)
my strength has failed
because of my sinfulness,[b]
and my bones waste away.(D)
11 I am ridiculed by all my adversaries
and even by my neighbors.
I am dreaded by my acquaintances;
those who see me in the street run from me.(E)
12 I am forgotten: gone from memory
like a dead person—like broken pottery.(F)
13 I have heard the gossip of many;
terror is on every side.(G)
When they conspired against me,
they plotted to take my life.(H)

14 But I trust in You, Lord;
I say, “You are my God.”(I)
15 The course of my life is in Your power;(J)
deliver me from the power of my enemies
and from my persecutors.(K)
16 Show Your favor to Your servant;
save me by Your faithful love.(L)

Isaiah 54:9-10

“For this is like the days[a] of Noah to Me:
when I swore that the waters of Noah
would never flood the earth again,(A)
so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you
or rebuke you.(B)
10 Though the mountains move
and the hills shake,
My love will not be removed from you
and My covenant of peace(C) will not be shaken,”
says your compassionate Lord.

Hebrews 2:10-18

10 For in bringing many sons to glory, it was entirely appropriate that God—all things exist for Him and through Him—should make the source[a] of their salvation perfect through sufferings.(A) 11 For the One who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one Father.[b] That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers,(B) 12 saying:

I will proclaim Your name to My brothers;
I will sing hymns to You in the congregation.(C)[c]

13 Again, I will trust in Him.[d] And again, Here I am with the children God gave Me.(D)[e]

14 Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, Jesus also shared in these, so that through His death He might destroy the one holding the power of death—that is, the Devil(E) 15 and free those who were held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death.(F) 16 For it is clear that He does not reach out to help angels, but to help Abraham’s offspring. 17 Therefore, He had to be like His brothers in every way, so that He could become a merciful and faithful high priest in service[f] to God, to make propitiation(G) for the sins of the people.(H) 18 For since He Himself was tested and has suffered, He is able to help those who are tested.
