Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)

1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful.

² But his delight is in the Law of the LORD. And on His Law does he meditate day and night.

³ For he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of waters, that will bring forth her fruits in due season; whose leaf shall not fade. So, whatever he shall do shall prosper.

⁴ The wicked are not so; but are as the chaff which the wind drives away.

⁵ Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

⁶ For the LORD knows the way of the righteous. And the way of the wicked shall perish.

¹² “Therefore, you shall say this Word to them, ‘Thus says the LORD God of Israel: “Every bottle shall be filled with wine.”’ And they shall say to you, ‘Do we not know that every bottle shall be filled with wine?’

¹³ “Then you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the LORD: “Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land—even the kings that sit upon the throne of David, and the priests and the Prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem—with drunkenness.”’

¹⁴ “And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together,” says the LORD. “I will not spare. I will neither pity nor have compassion, but will destroy them.”

¹⁵ Hear and give ear! Do not be proud. For the LORD has spoken it.

¹⁶ Give glory to the LORD your God before He brings darkness, or if ever your feet stumble in the dark mountains while you look for light and He turns it into the shadow of death and makes it as darkness.

¹⁷ But if you will not hear this, my soul shall weep in secret for your pride. And my eye shall weep and drop down tears, because the LORD’s flock is carried away captive.

¹⁸ Say to the king and to the queen, “Humble yourselves. Sit down. For the crown of your glory shall come down from your heads.”

¹⁹ The cities of the South shall be shut up, and no man shall open them. All Judah shall be carried away captive. It shall be wholly carried away captive.

²⁶ “Men, brothers, children of the generation of Abraham, and whoever among you fears God, to you is the Word of this salvation sent.

²⁷ “For the inhabitants of Jerusalem and their rulers - because they did not know Him, or even the words of the Prophets which are read every Sabbath - have fulfilled them in condemning Him.

²⁸ “And even though they found no cause for death, they still asked Pilate to kill Him.

²⁹ “And when they had fulfilled all things that were written of Him, they took Him down from the tree, and put Him in a sepulcher.

³⁰ “But God raised Him up from the dead.

³¹ “And He was seen by those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem (who are his witnesses to the people) for many days.

³² “And we declare to you concerning the promise made to the fathers:

³³ “that God has fulfilled it to us, their children, in that He raised up Jesus; even as it is written in the second Psalm, ‘You are My Son. This day have I begotten You.’

³⁴ “And considering that He raised Him up from the dead, to return no more to decay, He has said this, ‘I will give you the holy things of David, which are faithful.’
