Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
115 Not to us, O LORD, not to us; but to Your Name give the glory, for Your loving mercy and for Your truth’s sake.
2 Why shall the heathen say, “Where is their God, now?”
3 But our God is in Heaven. He does whatever He will.
4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.
5 They have a mouth and do not speak. They have eyes and do not see.
6 They have ears and do not hear. They have noses and do not smell.
7 They have hands and do not touch. They have feet and do not walk; nor do they make a sound with their throat.
8 Those who make them are like them. So are all who trust in them.
9 O Israel, trust in the LORD! He is their help and their shield.
10 O House of Aaron, trust in the LORD! He is their help and their shield.
11 You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD. He is their helper and their shield.
12 The LORD has been mindful of us. He will bless. He will bless the House of Israel. He will bless the House of Aaron.
13 He will bless those who fear the LORD, both small and great.
14 The LORD will increase toward you, toward you and toward your children.
15 You are blessed by the LORD, Who made Heaven and Earth.
16 The heavens, even the heavens are the LORD’s; but He has given the Earth to the sons of men.
17 The dead do not praise the LORD, nor any who go down into the silence.
18 But we will praise the LORD from henceforth and forever. Praise the LORD!
5 Then Deborah and Barak, the son of Abinoam, sang the same day, saying,
2 “Praise the LORD for the avenging of Israel, and for the people who offered themselves willingly!
3 “Hear, you kings! Listen, you princes! I will! I will sing to the LORD! I will sing praise to the LORD God of Israel!
4 “LORD, when You went out of Seir, when You departed out of the field of Edom, the Earth trembled, and the skies rained! The clouds also dropped water!
5 “The mountains melted before the LORD, that Sinai before the LORD God of Israel.
6 “In the days of Shamgar, the son of Anath (in the days of Jael), the highways were unoccupied and the travelers walked through byways.
7 “The towns were not inhabited. They decayed, I say, in Israel. Until I, Deborah, came up, who rose up a mother in Israel.
8 “They chose new gods. Then, war was in the gates. Was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand of Israel?
9 “My heart is with the governors of Israel, on those who are willing among the people. Praise the LORD!
10 Speak, you who ride on white donkeys, you who dwell by Middin, and who walk by the way.
11 “At the sound that divides the flock among the troughs of water, there shall they recount the righteousness of the LORD, His righteousness of His towns in Israel. Then the people of the LORD shall go down to the gates.
26 What is it then, brothers? When you come together, each one of you has a Psalm, has doctrine, has a tongue, has revelation, has interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.
27 If anyone speaks a tongue, let it be by two, or at the most, by three, and each in turn. And let one interpret.
28 But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in the Church. And let him speak to himself, and to God.
29 Let the prophets speak, two or three, and let the others judge.
30 And if anything is revealed to another who sits by, let the first keep silent.
31 For you may all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn, and all may be encouraged.
32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
33 For God is not of confusion, but of peace, as in all the churches of the Saints.
34 Let your women keep silent in the churches. For it is not permitted for them to speak, but to be in submission, as also the Law says.
35 And if they wish to learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for women to speak in the Church.
36 Did the Word of God come out from you? Or did it come to you only?
37 If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the Commandments of the Lord.
38 But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant.
39 Therefore, brothers, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak in tongues.
40 Let all things be done properly, and with order.
