Version
Amos 5:6-7

Search for Yahweh and live!
If you don’t, he will spread like a fire through the house of Joseph
        and burn it down.
Bethel will have no one to put it out.

You, Israel, turn justice into poison
and throw righteousness on the ground.

Amos 5:10-15

10 Israel, you hate anyone who speaks out against injustice.
You are disgusted by anyone who speaks the truth.
11 You trample on the poor
and take their wheat from them for taxes.
That is why you build houses from hand-cut stones,
but you will not live in them.
        You plant beautiful vineyards,
but you will not drink their wine.
12 I know that your crimes are numerous and your sins are many.
You oppress the righteous by taking bribes.
You deny the needy access to the courts.
13 That is why a wise person remains silent at such times,
because those times are so evil.

14 Search for good instead of evil so that you may live.
Then Yahweh Elohe Tsebaoth will be with you, as you have said.
15 Hate evil and love good.
Then you will be able to have justice in your courts.
        Maybe Yahweh Elohe Tsebaoth
will have pity on the faithful few of Joseph.

Psalm 90:12-17

12 Teach us to number each of our days
so that we may grow in wisdom.

13 Return, Yahweh! How long . . . ?
Change your plans about us, your servants.
14 Satisfy us every morning with your mercy
so that we may sing joyfully and rejoice all our days.
15 Make us rejoice for as many days as you have made us suffer,
for as many years as we have experienced evil.
16 Let us, your servants, see what you can do.
Let our children see your glorious power.
17 Let the kindness of Adonay our Elohim be with us.
Make us successful in everything we do.
Yes, make us successful in everything we do.

Hebrews 4:12-16

12 God’s word is living and active. It is sharper than any two-edged sword and cuts as deep as the place where soul and spirit meet, the place where joints and marrow meet. God’s word judges a person’s thoughts and intentions. 13 No creature can hide from God. Everything is uncovered and exposed for him to see. We must answer to him.

Christ Is Superior to Other Chief Priests

14 We need to hold on to our declaration of faith: We have a superior chief priest who has gone through the heavens. That person is Yeshua, the Son of God. 15 We have a chief priest who is able to sympathize with our weaknesses. He was tempted in every way that we are, but he didn’t sin. 16 So we can go confidently to the throne of God’s kindness[a] to receive mercy and find kindness, which will help us at the right time.

Mark 10:17-31

Eternal Life in the Kingdom(A)

17 As Yeshua was coming out to the road, a man came running to him and knelt in front of him. He asked Yeshua, “Good Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?”

18 Yeshua said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. 19 You know the commandments: Never murder. Never commit adultery. Never steal. Never give false testimony. Never cheat. Honor your father and mother.”

20 The man replied, “Teacher, I’ve obeyed all these commandments since I was a boy.”

21 Yeshua looked at him and loved him. He told him, “You’re still missing one thing. Sell everything you have. Give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then follow me!”

22 When the man heard that, he looked unhappy and went away sad, because he owned a lot of property.

23 Yeshua looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it will be for rich people to enter the kingdom of God!”

24 The disciples were stunned by his words. But Yeshua said to them again, “Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”

26 This amazed his disciples more than ever. They asked each other, “Who, then, can be saved?”

27 Yeshua looked at them and said, “It’s impossible for people to save themselves, but it’s not impossible for God to save them. Everything is possible for God.”

28 Then Peter spoke up, “We’ve given up everything to follow you.”

29 Yeshua said, “I can guarantee this truth: Anyone who gave up his home, brothers, sisters, mother, father, children, or fields because of me and the Good News 30 will certainly receive a hundred times as much here in this life. They will certainly receive homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields, along with persecutions. But in the world to come they will receive eternal life. 31 But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first.”
