Version
Numbers 11:4-6

The (A)rabble who were among them [a]had greedy desires; and also the sons of Israel wept again and said, “(B)Who will give us [b]meat to eat? (C)We remember the fish which we used to eat free in Egypt, the cucumbers and the melons and the leeks and the onions and the garlic, but now (D)our [c]appetite is gone. There is nothing at all [d]to look at except this manna.”

Numbers 11:10-16

The Complaint of Moses

10 Now Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, each man at the doorway of his tent; and the anger of the Lord was kindled greatly, and [a]Moses was displeased. 11 (A)So Moses said to the Lord, “Why have You [b]been so hard on Your servant? And why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You have laid the burden of all this people on me? 12 Was it I who conceived all this people? Was it I who brought them forth, that You should say to me, ‘Carry them in your bosom as a [c](B)nurse carries a nursing infant, to the land which (C)You swore to their fathers’? 13 Where am I to get meat to give to (D)all this people? For they weep before me, saying, ‘Give us meat that we may eat!’ 14 (E)I alone am not able to carry all this people, because it is too [d]burdensome for me. 15 (F)So if You are going to deal thus with me, please kill me at once, if I have found favor in Your sight, and do not let me see my wretchedness.”

Seventy Elders to Assist

16 The Lord therefore said to Moses, “Gather for Me (G)seventy men from the elders of Israel, (H)whom you know to be the elders of the people and their officers and bring them to the tent of meeting, and let them take their stand there with you.

Numbers 11:24-29

24 So Moses went out and (A)told the people the words of the Lord. Also, he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and stationed them around the tent. 25 (B)Then the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke to him; and He took of the Spirit who was upon him and placed Him upon the seventy elders. And when the Spirit rested upon them, they prophesied. But they did not do it again.

26 But two men had remained in the camp; the name of one was Eldad and the name of the [a]other Medad. And (C)the Spirit rested upon them (now they were among those who had been registered, but had not gone out to the tent), and they prophesied in the camp. 27 So a young man ran and told Moses and said, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.” 28 Then (D)Joshua the son of Nun, the attendant of Moses from his youth, said, “(E)Moses, my lord, restrain them.” 29 But Moses said to him, “Are you jealous for my sake? (F)Would that all the Lord’s people were prophets, that the Lord would put His Spirit upon them!”

Psalm 19:7-14

(A)The law of the Lord is [a](B)perfect, (C)restoring the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is (D)sure, making (E)wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are (F)right, (G)rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is (H)pure, (I)enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are (J)true; they are (K)righteous altogether.
10 They are more desirable than (L)gold, yes, than much fine gold;
(M)Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them (N)Your servant is warned;
In keeping them there is great (O)reward.
12 Who can (P)discern his errors? (Q)Acquit me of (R)hidden faults.
13 Also keep back Your servant (S)from presumptuous sins;
Let them not (T)rule over me;
Then I will be [b](U)blameless,
And I shall be acquitted of (V)great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth and (W)the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O Lord, (X)my rock and my (Y)Redeemer.

James 5:13-20

13 Is anyone among you (A)suffering? (B)Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to (C)sing praises. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for (D)the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, [a](E)anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; 15 and the (F)prayer [b]offered in faith will [c](G)restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will (H)raise him up, and if he has committed sins, [d]they will be forgiven him. 16 Therefore, (I)confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be (J)healed. (K)The effective [e]prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. 17 Elijah was (L)a man with a nature like ours, and (M)he prayed [f]earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for (N)three years and six months. 18 Then he (O)prayed again, and (P)the [g]sky [h]poured rain and the earth produced its fruit.

19 My brethren, (Q)if any among you strays from (R)the truth and one turns him back, 20 let him know that [i]he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will (S)save his soul from death and will (T)cover a multitude of sins.

Mark 9:38-50

Dire Warnings

38 (A)John said to Him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and (B)we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” 39 But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him, for there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name, and be able soon afterward to speak evil of Me. 40 (C)For he who is not against us is [a]for us. 41 For (D)whoever gives you a cup of water to drink [b]because of your name as followers of Christ, truly I say to you, he will not lose his reward.

42 (E)Whoever causes one of these [c]little ones who believe to stumble, it [d]would be better for him if, with a heavy millstone hung around his neck, he [e]had been cast into the sea. 43 (F)If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life crippled, than, having your two hands, to go into [f](G)hell, into the (H)unquenchable fire, 44 [[g]where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.] 45 If your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame, than, having your two feet, to be cast into [h](I)hell, 46 [[i]where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.] 47 (J)If your eye causes you to stumble, throw it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, than, having two eyes, to be cast into [j](K)hell, 48 (L)where their worm does not die, and (M)the fire is not quenched.

49 “For everyone will be salted with fire. 50 Salt is good; but (N)if the salt becomes unsalty, with what will you [k]make it salty again? (O)Have salt in yourselves, and (P)be at peace with one another.”
