Psalm 130

Psalm 130

A song for going up to worship.

O Yahweh, out of the depths I call to you.
O Adonay, hear my voice.
Let your ears be open to my pleas for mercy.
O Yahweh, who would be able to stand
if you kept a record of sins?
But with you there is forgiveness
so that you can be feared.
I wait for Yahweh, my soul waits,
and with hope I wait for his word.
My soul waits for Adonay
more than those who watch for the morning,
more than those who watch for the morning.
O Israel, put your hope in Yahweh,
because with Yahweh there is mercy
and with him there is unlimited forgiveness.
He will rescue Israel from all its sins.

Deuteronomy 1:34-40

34 When Yahweh heard what you said, he was angry and took this oath: 35 “Not one of these evil people will ever see the good land that I swore to give to your ancestors, 36 except Caleb, son of Jephunneh. He will see it, and I will give the land that he set his feet on to him and his descendants, because he wholeheartedly followed Yahweh.”

37 Yahweh became angry with me because of you. He said, “You won’t go there either. 38 But your assistant Joshua, son of Nun, will go there. Encourage him, because he will help Israel take possession of the land. 39 Although you thought the little children would be captured in war, your children, who are still too young to know the difference between good and evil, will enter that land. I will give it to them, and they will take possession of it. 40 Turn around, go back into the desert, and follow the road that goes to the Red Sea.”

2 Corinthians 5:1-5

Faith Guides Our Lives

We know that if the life we live here on earth is ever taken down like a tent, we still have a building from God. It is an eternal house in heaven that isn’t made by human hands. In our present tent-like existence we sigh, since we long to put on the house we will have in heaven. After we have put it on,[a] we won’t be naked. While we are in this tent, we sigh. We feel distressed because we don’t want to take off the tent, but we do want to put on the eternal house. Then eternal life will put an end to our mortal existence. God has prepared us for this and has given us his Spirit to guarantee it.
