Version
Psalm 130

A song to sing as we climb.

I have great trouble

130 Lord, I am crying aloud to you
    because I have great trouble.
My Lord, please listen to me!
I am asking you to be kind and help me.
Lord, if you should write down all our sins,
nobody could stand as a righteous person.
But you forgive people for their sins,
and so we give you honour.

I will wait for the Lord to help me.
    I trust him completely.
So I wait for him to do what he has promised.
I want my Lord to come and help me,
more than a guard at night wants the morning to come.
Yes, I want my Lord to come quickly, even more than that.
Israel's people, trust the Lord to help you.
The Lord has faithful love for his people.
He is always ready to save them.
He will save Israel's people from all their sins.

Deuteronomy 1:34-40

34 When the Lord heard that you were complaining, he was angry. He made this serious promise: 35 ‘You people who are now alive are wicked. None of you will see the good land that I promised to give to your ancestors. 36 Only Jephunneh's son Caleb will see it. He has obeyed me faithfully. So I will give to him and to his descendants the land that he walked on.’

37 As for me, the Lord became angry with me also, because of you. He said to me, ‘You also will not go into the land.[a] 38 But your servant Joshua, the son of Nun, will go in there. You must tell him to be brave. He will lead the Israelites into the land. It will become their land. 39 You thought that enemies would catch your small children. But they are the people who will go into the land. Your children who are still too young to know the difference between good and bad will also go in there. I will give the land to them and it will become their land. 40 But now you must all turn back towards the desert. Travel along the road to the Red Sea.’

2 Corinthians 5:1-5

God has prepared a new body for us

Our bodies are like a tent that we live in here on earth. One day, that home will come to an end. But we know that God will give us a new home. It is not a house that a human builder has built. God has built it for us in heaven and we will live there for ever. Now, while we are in our body here on earth, we cry inside ourselves. We want to go and live in our house that is in heaven. That will be like new clothes that we put on. When we go to live there, we will not be without clothes and ashamed.

While we still live in our bodies here on earth, we cry inside ourselves. Many difficult things happen to us. We do not really want to take off our old body. But we do want to put on our new body, like new clothes. When that happens, we will no longer need our old body which had to die. Instead we will have a new body that will live for ever. God is the one who has prepared us to have a new life in heaven one day. He has given his Spirit to be with us now. Because of that, we know that we will receive all God's good things one day.
