GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
Version
Psalm 47

For the choir director; a psalm by Korah’s descendants.

47 Clap your hands, all you people.
Shout to God with a loud, joyful song.
We must fear the Lord, the Most High.
He is the great king of the whole earth.
He brings people under our authority
and ⌞puts⌟ nations under our feet.
He chooses our inheritance for us,
the pride of Jacob, whom he loved. Selah

God has gone up with a joyful shout.
The Lord has gone up with the sound of a ram’s horn.
Make music to praise God.
Play music for him!
Make music to praise our king.
Play music for him!
God is the king of the whole earth.
Make your best music for him!
God rules the nations.
He sits upon his holy throne.

The influential people from the nations gather together
as the people of the God of Abraham.
The rulers of the earth belong to God.
He rules everything.

Deuteronomy 34:1-7

Moses’ Death and Burial

34 Then Moses went up on Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab. He went to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho. The Lord showed him the whole land. He could see Gilead as far as Dan, all of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the territory of Judah as far as the Mediterranean Sea, the Negev, and the Jordan Plain—the valley of Jericho (the City of Palms)—as far as Zoar.

Then the Lord said to him, “This is the land I promised with an oath to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I said I would give it to their descendants. I have let you see it with your own eyes, but you may not go there.”

As the Lord had predicted, the Lord’s servant Moses died in Moab. He was buried in a valley in Moab, near Beth Peor. Even today no one knows where his grave is.

Moses was 120 years old when he died. His eyesight never became poor, and he never lost his physical strength.

John 16:4-11

But I’ve told you this so that when it happens you’ll remember what I’ve told you. I didn’t tell you this at first, because I was with you.

“Now I’m going to the one who sent me. Yet, none of you asks me where I’m going. But because I’ve told you this, you’re filled with sadness. However, I am telling you the truth: It’s good for you that I’m going away. If I don’t go away, the helper won’t come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. He will come to convict the world of sin, to show the world what has God’s approval, and to convince the world that God judges it. He will convict the world of sin, because people don’t believe in me. 10 He will show the world what has God’s approval, because I’m going to the Father and you won’t see me anymore. 11 He will convince the world that God judges it, because the ruler of this world has been judged.
