Psalm 47

God Is King over All the Earth

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of (A)the Sons of Korah.

47 (B)Clap your hands, all peoples!
    (C)Shout to God with loud songs of joy!
For the Lord, the Most High, (D)is to be feared,
    (E)a great king over all the earth.
He (F)subdued peoples under us,
    and nations under our feet.
He chose our (G)heritage for us,
    (H)the pride of Jacob whom he loves. Selah
God (I)has gone up with a shout,
    the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises!
    Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is (J)the King of all the earth;
    sing praises (K)with a psalm![a]
God (L)reigns over the nations;
    God sits on his holy throne.
(M)The princes of the peoples gather
    as the people of the God of Abraham.
For (N)the shields of the earth belong to God;
    he is highly exalted!

Deuteronomy 34:1-7

The Death of Moses

34 Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab (A)to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho. And the Lord showed him all the land, Gilead as far as Dan, all Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah (B)as far as the western sea, (C)the Negeb, and (D)the Plain, that is, the Valley of Jericho (E)the city of palm trees, as far as (F)Zoar. And the Lord said to him, (G)“This is the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, ‘I will give it to your offspring.’ (H)I have let you see it with your eyes, but (I)you shall not go over there.” So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord, and he buried him in the valley in the land of Moab opposite Beth-peor; but (J)no one knows the place of his burial to this day. (K)Moses was 120 years old when he died. (L)His eye was undimmed, and his vigour unabated.

John 16:4-11

But (A)I have said these things to you, that when (B)their hour comes you may remember that I told them to you.

The Work of the Holy Spirit

“I did not say these things to you from the beginning, (C)because I was with you. But now (D)I am going to him who sent me, and (E)none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ But because I have said these things to you, (F)sorrow has filled your heart. Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for (G)if I do not go away, (H)the Helper will not come to you. But (I)if (J)I go, (K)I will send him to you. (L)And when he comes, he will (M)convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgement: concerning sin, (N)because they do not believe in me; 10 (O)concerning righteousness, (P)because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; 11 (Q)concerning judgement, because the ruler of this world (R)is judged.
