Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
12 Blessed is that nation, whose [a]God is the Lord: even the people that he hath chosen for his inheritance.
13 The Lord [b]looketh down from heaven, and beholdeth all the children of men.
14 From the habitation of his dwelling, he beholdeth all them that dwell in the earth.
15 He [c]fashioneth their hearts every one, and understandeth all their works.
16 The [d]King is not saved by the multitude of an host, neither is the mighty man delivered by great strength.
17 A horse is a vain help, and shall not deliver any by his great strength.
18 Behold, [e]the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, and upon them that trust in his mercy,
19 To deliver their souls from death, and to preserve them in famine.
20 [f]Our soul waiteth for the Lord: for he is our help and our shield.
21 Surely our heart shall rejoice in him, because we trusted in his holy Name.
22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, as we trusted in thee.
27 ¶ Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat [a]Abram, Nahor, and Haran: and Haran begat Lot.
28 Then Haran died before Terah his father in the land of his nativity, in Ur of [b]the Chaldeans.
29 So Abram and Nahor took them wives. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of [c]Iscah.
30 But Sarai was barren, and had no child.
31 Then [d]Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife: and they departed together from Ur of the Chaldeans, to (A)go into the land of Canaan, and they came to [e]Haran, and dwelt there.
32 So the days of Terah were two hundred and five years, and Terah died in Haran.
19 ¶ [a]Lay not up treasures for yourselves upon the earth, where the moth and canker corrupt, and where thieves dig through and steal.
20 (A)But lay up treasures for yourselves in heaven, where neither the moth nor canker corrupteth, and where thieves neither dig through nor steal.
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
22 ¶ (B)[b]The light of the body is the eye: if then thine [c]eye be single, thy whole body shall be light.
23 But if thine eye be wicked, then all thy body shall be dark. Wherefore if the light that is in thee, be darkness, how great is that darkness?
24 (C)[d]No man can serve [e]two masters: for either he shall hate the one, and love the other, or else he shall lean to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and [f]riches.
