Version
Psalm 33:12-22

12 Blessed is that nation, whose [a]God is the Lord: even the people that he hath chosen for his inheritance.

13 The Lord [b]looketh down from heaven, and beholdeth all the children of men.

14 From the habitation of his dwelling, he beholdeth all them that dwell in the earth.

15 He [c]fashioneth their hearts every one, and understandeth all their works.

16 The [d]King is not saved by the multitude of an host, neither is the mighty man delivered by great strength.

17 A horse is a vain help, and shall not deliver any by his great strength.

18 Behold, [e]the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, and upon them that trust in his mercy,

19 To deliver their souls from death, and to preserve them in famine.

20 [f]Our soul waiteth for the Lord: for he is our help and our shield.

21 Surely our heart shall rejoice in him, because we trusted in his holy Name.

22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, as we trusted in thee.

Job 21:1-16

21 7 Job declareth how the prosperity of the wicked maketh them proud. 15 Insomuch that they blaspheme God. 16 Their destruction is at hand. 23 None ought to be judged wicked for affliction, neither good for prosperity.

But Job answered, and said,

Hear diligently my words, and this [a]shall be instead of your consolations.

Suffer me that I may speak, and when I have spoken, mock on.

Do I direct my talk to man? If it [b]were so, how should not my spirit be troubled?

Mark me, and be abashed, and lay your hand upon your [c]mouth.

Even when I remember, I am afraid, and fear taketh hold on my flesh.

Wherefore do the wicked [d]live, and wax old, and grow in wealth?

Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their generation before their eyes.

Their houses are peaceable without fear, and the rod of God is not upon them.

10 Their bullock gendereth, and faileth not: their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.

11 They send forth their children [e]like sheep, and their sons dance.

12 They take the tambourine and harp, and rejoice in the sound of the organs.

13 They spend their days in wealth, and suddenly [f]they go down to the grave.

14 They say also unto God, Depart from us: for we desire not the [g]knowledge of thy ways.

15 Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we should pray unto him?

16 Lo, their wealth is not in their [h]hand: therefore let the counsel of the wicked [i]be far from me.

Romans 9:1-9

1 He answereth an objection, that might be brought on the Jews’ behalf, 7 and telleth of two sorts of Abraham’s children,  15 and that God worketh all things in this matter according to his will, 20 even as the potter doth. 24, 30 He proveth as well the calling of the Gentiles, 31 as also the rejecting of the Jews, 25, 27 by the testimony of the Prophets.

I say [a]the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience bearing me witness in the holy Ghost,

That I have great heaviness, and continual sorrow in mine heart.

For I would wish myself to be [b]separate from Christ, for my brethren that are my kinsmen according to the [c]flesh,

Which are the Israelites, to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the [d]glory, and the (A)[e]Covenants, and the giving of the [f]Law, and the [g]service of God, and the [h]promises.

Of whom are the fathers, and of whom concerning the flesh, Christ came, who is [i]God over all, blessed forever, Amen.

(B)[j]Notwithstanding it cannot be that the word of God should take none effect: for all they are not [k]Israel, which are of Israel:

Neither are they all children, because they are the seed of Abraham: (C)[l]but, In [m]Isaac shall thy seed be called:

[n]That is, they which are the children of the [o]flesh, are not the children of God: but the (D)children of the [p]promise, are counted for the seed.

[q]For this is a word of promise, (E)In this same time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.
