1 Kings 19:15-16

15 And the Lord said unto him, Go, return by the wilderness unto Damascus, and when thou comest there, anoint Hazael king over [a]Aram.

16 And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint King over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah shalt thou anoint to be Prophet in thy room.

1 Kings 19:19-21

19 ¶ So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and was with the twelfth: and Elijah went towards him, and cast his mantel upon him.

20 And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, [a]Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. Who answered him, Go, return: for what have I done to thee?

21 And when he went back again from him, he took a couple of oxen, and slew them, and sod their flesh with the [b]instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat: then he arose and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.

Psalm 16

16 1 David prayeth to God for succor not for his works, but for his faith’s sake. 4 Protesting that he hateth all idolatry, taking God only for his comfort and felicity. 8 Who suffereth his to lack nothing.

[a]Michtam of David.

Preserve me, O GOD: for in thee do I [b]trust.

O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord: my [c]well doing extendeth not to thee,

But to the Saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent: all my delight is in them.

The [d]sorrows of them, that offer to another god, shall be multiplied: [e]their offerings of blood will I not offer, neither make (A)mention of their names with my lips.

The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou shalt maintain my lot.

The [f]lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places: yea, I have a fair heritage.

I will praise the Lord, who hath given me counsel: my [g]reins also teach me in the nights.

I have set the Lord always before me: for he is at my right hand: therefore I [h]shall not slide.

Wherefore [i]mine heart is glad, and my tongue rejoiceth: my flesh also doth rest in hope.

10 For thou [j]wilt not leave my soul in the grave: neither wilt thou suffer thine holy One to see corruption.

11 Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy [k]presence is the fullness of joy: and at thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore.

Galatians 5:1

1 Having declared that we came of the free woman, he showeth the price of that freedom, 13 and how we should use the same, 16 that we may obey the Spirit, 19 and resist the flesh.

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Galatians 5:13-25

13 For brethren, ye have been called unto liberty: [a]only use not your liberty as an occasion unto the flesh, but by love serve one another.

14 [b]For [c]all the Law is fulfilled in one word, which is this, (A)Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

15 [d]If ye bite and devour one another, take heed lest ye be consumed one of another.

16 [e]Then I say, (B)Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.

17 For the [f]flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary one to another, so that ye cannot do the same things that ye would.

18 And if ye be led by the Spirit, ye are not under the Law.

19 [g]Moreover the works of the flesh are manifest, which are adultery, fornication, uncleanness, wantonness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, debate, emulations, wrath, contentions, seditions, heresies,

21 Envy, murders, drunkenness, gluttony, and such like, whereof I tell you before, as I also have told you before, that they which do such things, shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the [h]fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperancy: [i]against such there is no law.

24 For they that are Christ’s, have crucified the flesh with the affections and the lusts.

25 If we [j]live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Luke 9:51-62

51 [a]And it came to pass, when the days were accomplished, that he should be received up, he [b]settled himself fully to go to Jerusalem,

52 And sent messengers before him: and they went and entered into a town of the Samaritans, to prepare him lodging.

53 But they would not receive him, because his behavior was as though he would go to Jerusalem.

54 [c]And when his disciples, James and John saw it, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command, that fire come down from heaven, and consume them, even as (A)Elijah did?

55 But Jesus turned about, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not of what [d]spirit ye are.

56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. Then they went to another town.

57 [e]And it came to pass that as they went in the way, (B)a certain man said unto him, I will follow thee, Lord, whithersoever thou goest.

58 And Jesus said unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven nests, but the Son of man hath not whereon to lay his head.

59 [f]But he said unto another, Follow me. And the same said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

60 And Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury [g]their dead: but go thou, and preach the kingdom of God.

61 [h]Then another said, I will follow thee, Lord: but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at mine house.

62 And Jesus said unto him, No man that putteth his hand to the plough, and looketh back, is apt to the kingdom of God.
