Psalm 97

97 1 The Prophet exhorteth all to rejoice for the coming of the kingdom of Christ, 7 dreadful to the rebels and idolaters,  8 and joyful to the just, whom he exhorteth to innocency, 12 to rejoicing and thanksgiving.

The [a]Lord reigneth: let the earth rejoice: let the [b]multitude of the Isles be glad.

[c]Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the foundation of his throne.

There shall go a fire before him, and burn up his enemies round about.

His lightnings gave light unto the world: the earth saw it and was [d]afraid.

The mountains melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.

[e]Confounded be all they that serve graven images, and that glory in idols: worship him [f]all ye gods.

Zion heard of it, and was glad: and the [g]daughters of Judah rejoiced, because of thy judgments, O Lord.

For thou, Lord, art most High above all the earth: thou art much exalted above all gods.

10 Ye that [h]love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his Saints: he will deliver them from the hand of the wicked.

11 [i]Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.

12 Rejoice ye righteous in the Lord, and give thanks for his holy [j]remembrance.

Acts 1:1-11

The Acts of the Holy Apostles, Written by Luke the Evangelist

1 Luke tieth this history to his Gospel. 9 Christ being taken into heaven. 10 The Apostles,  11 being warned by the Angels,  12 to return, 14 and give themselves to prayer. 15 By Peter’s motion, 18 into Judas the traitor’s place. 26 Matthias is chosen.

I have made the [a]former treatise, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began to [b]do and teach,

Until the day that he was taken up, after that he through the holy Ghost, had given commandments unto the Apostles, whom he had chosen:

[c]To whom also he presented himself alive after that he had suffered, by many [d]infallible tokens, being seen of them by the space of forty days, and speaking of those things which appertained to the kingdom of God.

(A)And when he had [e]gathered them together, he commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, (B)which said he, ye have heard of me.

(C)For John indeed baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized [f]with the holy Ghost within these few days.

[g]When they therefore were come together they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time [h]restore the kingdom to Israel?

And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times, or the [i]seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

(D)But ye shall receive power of the holy Ghost, when he shall come on you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

(E)[j]And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up: for a cloud took him up out of their sight.

10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven, as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel.

11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing into heaven? This Jesus which is taken up [k]from you into heaven, shall so come, as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Psalm 47

47 1 The Prophet exhorteth all people to the worship of the true and everlasting God, commending the mercy of God toward the posterity of Jacob. 9 And after prophesieth of the kingdom of Christ in the time of the Gospel.

To him that excelleth. A Psalm committed to the sons of Korah.

All people [a]clap your hands; sing loud unto God with a joyful voice.

For the Lord is high, and terrible; a great King over all the earth.

He hath [b]subdued the people under us, and the nations under our feet.

He hath chosen [c]our inheritance for us: even the glory of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.

God is gone up with triumph, even the Lord with the [d]sound of the trumpet.

Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.

For God is the king of all the earth: sing praises everyone that hath [e]understanding.

God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon his holy Throne.

The princes of the people are gathered unto the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the world belong to God: he [f]is greatly to be exalted.

Psalm 93

93 1 He praiseth the power of God in the creation of the world, and beateth down all people which lift them up against his majesty, 5 and provoked to consider his promises.

The Lord [a]reigneth, and is clothed with majesty: the Lord is clothed, and girded with power, the world also shall be established, that it cannot be moved.

Thy [b]throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.

[c]The floods have lifted up, O Lord: the floods have lifted up their voice: the floods lift up their waves.

The waves of the sea are marvelous through the noise of many waters, yet the Lord on high is more mighty.

Thy [d]testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine House, O Lord, forever.

Ephesians 1:15-23

15 [a]Therefore also after that I heard of the faith, which ye have in the Lord Jesus, and love toward all the Saints,

16 I cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers,

17 [b]That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, that Father of [c]glory, might give unto you the Spirit of wisdom, and revelation through the [d]knowledge of him,

18 That the eyes of your understanding may be lightened, that ye may know what the [e]hope is of his calling, and what the riches of his glorious inheritance is in the Saints,

19 [f]And what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us, which believe, (A)according to the working of his mighty power,

20 [g]Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his [h]right hand in the heavenly places,

21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and domination, and every [i]Name, that is named, not in this world only, but also in that that is to come,

22 [j]And hath made all things subject under his feet, and hath given him over all things to be the [k]head to the Church,

23 Which is his body, even the [l]fullness of him that filleth all in all things.

Luke 24:44-53

44 [a]And he said unto them, These are the words, which I spake unto you while I was yet with you, that all must be fulfilled which are written of me in the Law of Moses, and in the Prophets, and in the Psalms.

45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures,

46 And said unto them, Thus is it written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise again from the dead the third day,

47 And that repentance, and remission of sins should be preached in his Name among all nations, [b]beginning at Jerusalem.

48 Now ye are witnesses of these things.

49 And behold, I do send the (A)promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, [c]until ye be endued with power from on high.

50 [d]Afterward he lead them out into Bethany, and lifted up his hands, and blessed them.

51 And it came to pass, that as he blessed them, (B)he departed from them, and was carried up into heaven.

52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy,

53 And were continually in the Temple, praising, and lauding God. Amen.
