Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
126 1 This Psalm was made after the return of the people from Babylon, and showeth that the means of their deliverance was wonderful after the seventy years of captivity forspoken by Jeremiah, in Jer. 25:12 and 29:10.
A song of degrees, or Psalm of David.
1 When the Lord brought again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that [a]dream.
2 Then was our mouth [b]filled with laughter, and our tongue with joy: then said they among the [c]heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them.
3 The Lord hath done great things for us, whereof we rejoice.
4 O Lord, bring again our captivity, as the [d]rivers in the South.
5 They that sow in tears, shall reap in joy.
6 They went weeping, and carried [e]precious seed: but they shall return with joy, and bring their sheaves.
8 I will bring forth the blind people, and they shall have eyes, and the deaf, and they shall have ears.
9 Let all the nations be gathered [a]together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and show us former things? let them bring forth their [b]witnesses, that they may be justified: but let them [c]hear, and say, It is truth.
10 You [d]are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my [e]servant, whom I have chosen: therefore ye shall know and believe me, and ye shall understand that I am: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
11 I, even I am the Lord, and beside me there is no Savior.
12 I have declared, and I have saved, and I have showed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore you are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God.
13 Yea, before the day was, I am, and there is none that can deliver out of mine hand: I will do it, and who shall let it?
14 Thus saith the Lord your redeemer, the holy one of Israel, For your sake I have sent to Babel, and [f]brought it down: they are all fugitives, and the Chaldeans cry in [g]the ships.
15 I am the Lord your holy one, the creator of Israel, your King.
25 But I supposed it necessary to send my brother Epaphroditus unto you my companion in labor, and fellow soldier, even your messenger, and he that ministered unto me such things as I wanted.
26 For he longed after all you, and was full of heaviness, because ye had heard that he had been sick.
27 And no doubt he was sick, very near unto death: but God had mercy on him, and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
28 I sent him therefore the more diligently, that when ye should see him again, ye might rejoice, and I might be the less sorrowful.
29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness, and make much of such:
30 Because that for the [a]work of Christ he was near unto death, and regarded not his life, to fulfill that service which was lacking on your part toward me.
3 2 He refuteth the vain boastings of the false apostles, 7 and setteth Christ against them. 10 He setteth out the force and nature of faith, 15 that laying all things aside, they may be partakers of the Cross of Christ, 18 the enemies whereof, he noteth out.
1 Moreover, [b]my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. [c]It grieveth me not to write the [d]same things to you, and for you it is a sure thing.
