55 1 An exhortation to come to Christ. 8 God’s counsels are not as man’s. 12 The joy of the faithful.
1 Ho, everyone that [a]thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and ye that have [b]no silver, come, buy and eat: come, I say, buy [c]wine and milk without silver and without money.
2 Wherefore do ye lay out silver, and not for bread? [d]and your labor without being satisfied? hearken diligently unto me, and eat that which is good, and let your soul delight in [e]fatness.
3 Incline your ears, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live, and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the [f]sure mercies of David.
4 Behold, I gave [g]him for a witness to the people, for a prince and a master unto the people.
5 Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, [h]and a nation that knew not thee, shall run unto thee because of the Lord thy God, and the Holy one of Israel: for he hath glorified thee.
6 Seek ye the Lord while he may be [i]found: call ye upon him while he is near.
7 Let the wicked [j]forsake his ways, and the unrighteous his own imaginations, and return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he is very ready to forgive.
8 For my [k]thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts above your thoughts.
63 1 David after he had been in great danger by Saul in the desert of Ziph, made this Psalm. 3 Wherein he giveth thanks to God for his wonderful deliverance, in whose mercies he trusted, even in the midst of his miseries. 9 Prophesying the destruction of God’s enemies: 11 And contrariwise happiness to all them that trust in the Lord.
A Psalm of David, when he was in the [a]wilderness of Judah.
1 O God, thou art my God, early will I seek thee: my soul [b]thirsteth for thee: my flesh longeth greatly after thee in a barren and dry land without water:
2 Thus [c]I behold thee as in the Sanctuary, when I behold thy power and thy glory.
3 For thy loving-kindness is better than life: therefore my lips shall praise thee.
4 Thus will I magnify thee all my life, and lift up mine hands in thy Name.
5 My soul shall be satisfied, as with [d]marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips,
6 When I remember thee on my bed, and when I think upon thee in the night watches.
7 Because thou hast been mine helper, therefore under the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
8 My soul [e]cleaveth unto thee: for thy right hand upholdeth me.
10 1 If God spared not the Jews, neither will he spare those who are of like condition, 3, 4 touching the outward signs of his grace. 14 That it is absurd, that such should be partakers of the table of the devils, who are partakers of the Lord’s Supper. 24 To have consideration of our neighbor in things indifferent.
1 Moreover, [a]brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, that all our [b]fathers were under (A)that cloud, and all passed through that (B)sea,
2 [c]And were all [d]baptized unto [e]Moses, in that cloud, and in that sea,
3 (C)And did all eat the [f]same spiritual [g]meat,
4 (D)And did all drink the same spiritual drink (for they drank of the spiritual Rock that [h]followed them: and the Rock was [i]Christ.)
5 But with many of them God was not pleased: for they were (E)overthrown in the wilderness.
6 [j]Now these things are our [k]examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things (F)as they also lusted.
7 Neither be ye idolaters as were some of them, as it is written, (G)The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed fornication, and fell in one (H)day three and twenty thousand.
9 Neither let us tempt [l]Christ, as some of them also tempted him, and (I)were destroyed of serpents.
10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them (J)also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
11 Now all these things came unto them for examples, and were written to admonish us, upon whom the [m]ends of the world are come.
12 [n]Wherefore, let him that thinketh he standeth, take heed lest he fall.
13 There hath no temptation taken you, but such as appertaineth to [o]man: and God is faithful, which will not suffer you to be tempted above that you be able, but will even [p]give the issue with the temptation, that ye may be able to bear it.

1 There [a]were certain men present at the same season, that showed him of the Galileans, whose blood [b]Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 And Jesus answered, and said unto them, Suppose ye, that these Galileans were greater sinners than all the other Galileans, because they have suffered such things?
3 I tell you, nay: but except ye amend your lives, ye shall all likewise perish.
4 Or think you that those eighteen, upon whom the tower in [c]Siloam fell, and slew them, were sinners above all men that dwell in Jerusalem?
5 I tell you, nay: but except ye amend your lives, ye shall all likewise perish.
6 ¶ [d]He spake also this parable, A certain man had a fig tree, planted in his vineyard: and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
7 Then said he to the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, this three years have I come and sought fruit of this fig tree, and find none: cut it down: why keepeth it also the ground [e]barren?
8 And he answered, and said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I dig round about it, and dung it.
9 And if it bear fruit, well: if not, then after thou shalt cut it down.
