Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
3 Then Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph: doth my father yet live? But his brethren could not answer him, for they were astonished at his presence.
4 Again, Joseph said to his brethren, Come near, I pray you, to me. And they came near. And he said, (A)I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt.
5 Now therefore be not [a]sad, neither grieved with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: (B)For God did send me before you for your preservation.
6 For now two years of famine have been through the land, and five years are behind, wherein neither shall be earing nor harvest.
7 Wherefore God sent me before you to preserve your posterity in this land, and to save you alive by a great deliverance.
8 Now then you sent not me hither, but [b]God, who hath made me a father unto Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.
9 Haste you and go up to my father, and tell him, Thus saith thy son Joseph, God hath made me lord of all Egypt: come down to me, tarry not.
10 And thou shalt dwell in the land of Goshen, and shalt be near me, thou and thy children, and thy children’s children, and thy sheep, and thy beasts, and all that thou hast.
11 Also I will nourish thee there (for yet remain five years of famine) lest thou perish through poverty, thou and thy household, and all that thou hast.
15 Moreover, he kissed all his brethren, and wept upon them: and afterward his brethren talked with him.
37 1 This Psalm containeth exhortation and consolation for the weak, that are grieved at the prosperity of the wicked, and the affliction of the godly. 7 For how prosperously soever the wicked do live for the time, he doth affirm their felicity to be vain and transitory, because they are not in the favor of God, but in the end they are destroyed as his enemies. 11 And how miserably that the righteous seemeth to live in the world, yet his end is peace, and he is in the favor of God, he is delivered from the wicked, and preserved.
A Psalm of David.
1 Fret not [a]thyself because of the wicked men, neither be envious for the evildoers.
2 For they shall soon be [b]cut down like grass, and shall wither as the green herb.
3 [c]Trust thou in the Lord and do good: dwell in the land, and thou shalt be fed assuredly:
4 And delight thyself in the Lord, and he shall give thee thine heart’s desire.
5 [d]Commit thy way unto the Lord, and trust in him, and he shall bring it to pass.
6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy [e]judgment as the noon day.
7 Wait patiently upon the Lord, and hope in him: fret not thyself for him [f]which prospereth in his way, nor for the man that bringeth his enterprises to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and leave off wrath: fret not thyself [g]also to do evil.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off, and they that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the land.
10 [h]Therefore yet a little while and the wicked shall not appear, and thou shalt look after his place, and he shall not be found.
11 But (A)meek men shall possess the earth, and shall have their delight in the multitude of peace.
39 But the [a]salvation of the righteous men shall be of the Lord: he shall be their strength in the time of trouble.
40 For the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and shall save them, because they trust in him.
35 [a]But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body come they forth?
36 [b]O fool, that which thou sowest, is not quickened, except it die.
37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare corn as it falleth, of wheat, or of some other.
38 [c]But God giveth it a body at his pleasure, even to every seed his own body.
42 [a]So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is [b]sown in corruption, and is raised in incorruption.
43 It is sown in [c]dishonor, and is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness, and is raised in [d]power.
44 [e]It is sown a natural body, and is raised a spiritual body: there is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 [f]As it is also written, The [g]first man (A)Adam was made a living soul: and the last Adam was made a [h]quickening spirit.
46 [i]Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual: but that which is natural, and afterward that which is spiritual.
47 The first man is of the earth, [j]earthly: the second man is the Lord from [k]heaven.
48 [l]As is the earthly, such are they that are earthly: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
49 And as we have born the [m]image of the earthly, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly.
50 [n]This say I, brethren, that [o]flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
27 ¶ (A)[a]But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies: do well to them which hate you.
28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which hurt you.
29 (B)And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek, offer also the other, (C)and him that taketh away thy cloak, forbid not to take thy coat also.
30 Give to every man that asketh of thee: and of him that taketh away the things that be thine, ask them not again.
31 (D)And as ye would that men should do to you, so do ye to them likewise.
32 (E)For if ye love them which love you, [b]what thank shall ye have? for even the sinners love those that love them.
33 And if ye do good for them which do good for you, what thank shall ye have? for even the sinners do the same.
34 (F)And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank shall ye have? for even the sinners lend to sinners, to receive the like.
35 Wherefore love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, [c]looking for nothing again, and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of (G)the most High: for he is kind unto the unkind, and to the evil.
36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
37 ¶ (H)[d]Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: [e]forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.
38 Give, and it shall be given unto you: (I)a good measure, [f]pressed down, shaken together and running over shall men give into your bosom: for with what measure ye mete, with the same shall men mete to you again.
