Psalm 119:169-176

Taw

169 Let my (A)cry come before you, O Lord;
    (B)give me understanding (C)according to your word!
170 Let my plea come before you;
    (D)deliver me according to your word.
171 My lips will (E)pour forth praise,
    for you (F)teach me your statutes.
172 My tongue will sing of your word,
    for (G)all your commandments are right.
173 Let your hand be ready to help me,
    for I have (H)chosen your precepts.
174 I (I)long for your salvation, O Lord,
    and your law is my (J)delight.
175 Let my soul live and praise you,
    and let your rules help me.
176 I have (K)gone astray like a lost sheep; seek your servant,
    for I do not (L)forget your commandments.

Isaiah 10:12-20

12 (A)When the Lord has finished all his work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, (B)he[a] will punish the speech of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria and the boastful look in his eyes. 13 (C)For he says:

“By the strength of my hand I have done it,
    and by my wisdom, for I have understanding;
I remove the boundaries of peoples,
    and plunder their treasures;
    like a bull I bring down those who sit on thrones.
14 My hand has found like a nest
    the wealth of the peoples;
and as one gathers eggs that have been forsaken,
    so I have gathered all the earth;
and there was none that moved a wing
    or opened the mouth or chirped.”
15 Shall (D)the axe boast over him who hews with it,
    or the saw magnify itself against him who wields it?
As if a rod should wield him who lifts it,
    or as if a staff should lift him who is not wood!
16 Therefore the Lord God of hosts
    will send wasting sickness among his (E)stout warriors,
and under his glory (F)a burning will be kindled,
    like the burning of fire.
17 (G)The light of Israel will become a fire,
    and (H)his Holy One a flame,
and (I)it will burn and devour
    his thorns and briers (J)in one day.
18 The glory of (K)his forest and of his (L)fruitful land
    the Lord will destroy, both soul and body,
    and it will be as when a sick man wastes away.
19 The remnant of the trees of his forest will be so few
    that a child can write them down.

The Remnant of Israel Will Return

20 (M)In that day (N)the remnant of Israel and the survivors of the house of Jacob will no more (O)lean on him who struck them, but (P)will lean on the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

John 7:25-36

Can This Be the Christ?

25 Some of the people of Jerusalem therefore said, “Is not this the man whom (A)they seek to kill? 26 And here he is, (B)speaking openly, and they say nothing to him! Can it be that (C)the authorities really know that this is the Christ? 27 But (D)we know (E)where this man comes from, and when the Christ appears, (F)no one will know where he comes from.” 28 So Jesus proclaimed, (G)as he taught in the temple, (H)“You know me, and you know where I come from? But (I)I have not come of my own accord. (J)He who sent me is true, (K)and him you do not know. 29 (L)I know him, for I come (M)from him, and (N)he sent me.” 30 (O)So they were seeking to arrest him, but (P)no one laid a hand on him, (Q)because his hour had not yet come. 31 Yet (R)many of the people believed in him. They said, (S)“When the Christ appears, will he do more signs than this man has done?”

Officers Sent to Arrest Jesus

32 The Pharisees heard the crowd (T)muttering these things about him, and the chief priests and Pharisees sent (U)officers to arrest him. 33 Jesus then said, (V)“I will be with you a little longer, and then (W)I am going to him who sent me. 34 (X)You will seek me and you will not find me. Where I am you cannot come.” 35 The Jews said to one another, “Where does this man intend to go that we will not find him? (Y)Does he intend to go to (Z)the Dispersion among (AA)the Greeks and teach the Greeks? 36 What does he mean by saying, (AB)‘You will seek me and you will not find me’, and, ‘Where I am you cannot come’?”
