Psalm 107:1-3

Book Five

Let the Redeemed of the Lord Say So

107 (A)Oh give thanks to the Lord, (B)for he is good,
    for his steadfast love endures for ever!
Let (C)the redeemed of the Lord say so,
    whom he has (D)redeemed from trouble[a]
and (E)gathered in from the lands,
    from the east and from the west,
    from the north and from the south.

Psalm 107:33-43

33 He (A)turns rivers into a desert,
    springs of water into thirsty ground,
34 (B)a fruitful land into a salty waste,
    because of the evil of its inhabitants.
35 He (C)turns a desert into pools of water,
    (D)a parched land into springs of water.
36 And there he lets the hungry dwell,
    and they establish (E)a city to live in;
37 they sow fields and plant vineyards
    and get a fruitful yield.
38 (F)By his blessing they multiply greatly,
    and he does not let their livestock diminish.
39 When they are diminished and brought low
    through oppression, evil, and sorrow,
40 (G)he pours contempt on princes
    and (H)makes them wander (I)in trackless wastes;
41 but (J)he raises up the needy out of affliction
    and (K)makes their families like flocks.
42 (L)The upright see it and are glad,
    and (M)all wickedness shuts its mouth.
43 (N)Whoever is wise, let him attend to these things;
    let them consider the steadfast love of the Lord.

Numbers 11:16-23

Elders Appointed to Aid Moses

16 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Gather for me (A)seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and (B)officers over them, and bring them to the tent of meeting, and let them take their stand there with you. 17 (C)And I will come down and talk with you there. And (D)I will take some of the Spirit that is on you and put it on them, and (E)they shall bear the burden of the people with you, so that you may not bear it yourself alone. 18 And say to the people, (F)‘Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat meat, for you have wept in the hearing of the Lord, saying, “Who will give us meat to eat? (G)For it was better for us in Egypt.” Therefore the Lord will give you meat, and you shall eat. 19 You shall not eat for just one day, or two days, or five days, or ten days, or twenty days, 20 but for a whole month, (H)until it comes out at your nostrils and becomes loathsome to you, because you have rejected the Lord who is among you and have wept before him, saying, (I)“Why did we come out of Egypt?”’” 21 But Moses said, (J)“The people among whom I am number six hundred thousand on foot, and you have said, ‘I will give them meat, that they may eat for a whole month!’ 22 (K)Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, and be enough for them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, and be enough for them?” 23 And the Lord said to Moses, (L)“Is the Lord's hand shortened? Now you shall see whether (M)my word will come true for you or not.”

Numbers 11:31-32

Quail and a Plague

31 Then a (A)wind from the Lord sprang up, and it brought quail from the sea and let them fall beside the camp, about a day's journey on this side and a day's journey on the other side, round the camp, and about two cubits[a] above the ground. 32 And the people rose all that day and all night and all the next day, and gathered the quail. Those who gathered least gathered ten (B)homers.[b] And they spread them out for themselves all round the camp.

Ephesians 4:17-24

The New Life

17 Now this I say and (A)testify in the Lord, (B)that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, (C)in the futility of their minds. 18 They (D)are darkened in their understanding, (E)alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to (F)their hardness of heart. 19 They (G)have become callous and (H)have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practise every kind of impurity. 20 But that is not the way you (I)learned Christ!— 21 assuming that (J)you have heard about him and (K)were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, 22 to (L)put off (M)your old self,[a] which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through (N)deceitful desires, 23 and (O)to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on (P)the new self, (Q)created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
