Psalm 119:81-88

כ KAPH

81 (A)My soul faints for Your salvation,
But I hope in Your word.
82 My eyes fail from searching Your word,
Saying, “When will You comfort me?”
83 For (B)I have become like a wineskin in smoke,
Yet I do not forget Your statutes.
84 (C)How many are the days of Your servant?
(D)When will You execute judgment on those who persecute me?
85 (E)The proud have dug pits for me,
Which is not according to Your law.
86 All Your commandments are faithful;
They persecute me (F)wrongfully;
Help me!
87 They almost made an end of me on earth,
But I did not forsake Your precepts.
88 Revive me according to Your lovingkindness,
So that I may keep the testimony of Your mouth.

Ezekiel 2:8-3:11

But you, son of man, hear what I say to you. Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house; open your mouth and (A)eat what I give you.”

Now when I looked, there was (B)a hand stretched out to me; and behold, (C)a scroll of a book was in it. 10 Then He spread it before me; and there was writing on the inside and on the outside, and written on it were lamentations and mourning and woe.

The Responsibility of the Prophet

Moreover He said to me, “Son of man, eat what you find; (D)eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.” So I opened my mouth, and He caused me to eat that scroll.

And He said to me, “Son of man, feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you.” So I (E)ate, and it was in my mouth (F)like honey in sweetness.

Then He said to me: “Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with My words to them. For you are not sent to a people of unfamiliar speech and of hard language, but to the house of Israel, not to many people of unfamiliar speech and of hard language, whose words you cannot understand. Surely, (G)had I sent you to them, they would have listened to you. But the house of Israel will not listen to you, (H)because they will not listen to Me; (I)for all the house of Israel are [a]impudent and hard-hearted. Behold, I have made your face strong against their faces, and your forehead strong against their foreheads. (J)Like adamant stone, harder than flint, I have made your forehead; (K)do not be afraid of them, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house.”

10 Moreover He said to me: “Son of man, receive into your heart all My words that I speak to you, and hear with your ears. 11 And go, get to the captives, to the children of your people, and speak to them and tell them, (L)‘Thus says the Lord God,’ whether they hear, or whether they refuse.”

2 Corinthians 11:16-33

Reluctant Boasting

16 I say again, let no one think me a fool. If otherwise, at least receive me as a fool, that I also may boast a little. 17 What I speak, (A)I speak not according to the Lord, but as it were, foolishly, in this confidence of boasting. 18 Seeing that many boast according to the flesh, I also will boast. 19 For you put up with fools gladly, (B)since you yourselves are wise! 20 For you put up with it (C)if one brings you into bondage, if one devours you, if one takes from you, if one exalts himself, if one strikes you on the face. 21 To our shame (D)I say that we were too weak for that! But (E)in whatever anyone is bold—I speak foolishly—I am bold also.

Suffering for Christ

22 Are they (F)Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? So am I. 23 Are they ministers of Christ?—I speak as a fool—I am more: (G)in labors more abundant, (H)in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, (I)in deaths often. 24 From the Jews five times I received (J)forty (K)stripes minus one. 25 Three times I was (L)beaten with rods; (M)once I was stoned; three times I (N)was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep; 26 in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, (O)in perils of my own countrymen, (P)in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; 27 in weariness and toil, (Q)in sleeplessness often, (R)in hunger and thirst, in (S)fastings often, in cold and nakedness— 28 besides the other things, what comes upon me daily: (T)my deep concern for all the churches. 29 (U)Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is made to stumble, and I do not burn with indignation?

30 If I must boast, (V)I will boast in the things which concern my [a]infirmity. 31 (W)The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, (X)who is blessed forever, knows that I am not lying. 32 (Y)In Damascus the governor, under Aretas the king, was guarding the city of the Damascenes with a garrison, desiring to arrest me; 33 but I was let down in a basket through a window in the wall, and escaped from his hands.
