BOOK FIVE
Psalms 107–150
Thanksgiving to the Lord for His Great Works of Deliverance
17 Fools, (A)because of their transgression,
And because of their iniquities, were afflicted.
18 (B)Their soul abhorred all manner of food,
And they (C)drew near to the gates of death.
19 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
And He saved them out of their distresses.
20 (D)He sent His word and (E)healed them,
And (F)delivered them from their destructions.
21 Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness,
And for His wonderful works to the children of men!
22 (G)Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving,
And (H)declare His works with [a]rejoicing.
5 Then I, Daniel, looked; and there stood two others, one on this riverbank and the other on that (A)riverbank. 6 And one said to the man clothed in (B)linen, who was above the waters of the river, (C)“How long shall the fulfillment of these wonders be?”
7 Then I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he (D)held up his right hand and his left hand to heaven, and swore by Him (E)who lives forever, (F)that it shall be for a time, times, and half a time; (G)and when the power of (H)the holy people has been completely shattered, all these things shall be finished.
8 Although I heard, I did not understand. Then I said, “My lord, what shall be the end of these things?”
9 And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. 10 (I)Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, (J)but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but (K)the wise shall understand.
11 “And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.
13 “But you, go your way till the end; (L)for you shall rest, (M)and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days.”
7 (A)In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to (B)the riches of His grace 8 which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and [a]prudence, 9 (C)having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure (D)which He purposed in Himself, 10 that in the dispensation of (E)the fullness of the times (F)He might gather together in one (G)all things in Christ, [b]both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. 11 (H)In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to (I)the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 12 (J)that we (K)who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.
13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard (L)the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, (M)you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 (N)who[c] is the [d]guarantee of our inheritance (O)until the redemption of (P)the purchased possession, (Q)to the praise of His glory.
