Psalm 84

Longing for the Temple Worship.

For the music director; [a]on the Gittith. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.

84 How lovely are Your (A)dwelling places,
Lord of armies!
My (B)soul longed and even yearned for the courtyards of the Lord;
My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the (C)living God.
The bird also has found a house,
And the swallow a nest for herself, where she may put her young:
Your (D)altars, Lord of armies,
(E)My King and my God.
(F)Blessed are those who dwell in Your house!
They are (G)ever praising You. Selah

Blessed is the person whose (H)strength is in You,
In [b]whose heart are the (I)roads to Zion!
Passing through the Valley of [c]Baca they make it a [d]spring;
The (J)early rain also covers it with blessings.
They (K)go from strength to strength,
[e]Every one of them (L)appears before God in Zion.

(M)Lord God of armies, hear my prayer;
Listen, (N)God of Jacob! Selah
See our (O)shield, God,
And look at the face of (P)Your anointed.
10 For (Q)a day in Your courtyards is better than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God
Than live in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the Lord God is (R)a sun and (S)shield;
The Lord gives grace and (T)glory;
(U)He withholds no good thing [f]from those who walk with integrity.
12 Lord of armies,
(V)Blessed is the person who trusts in You!

1 Kings 6:1-4

The Building of the Temple

(A)Now it came about in the four hundred and eightieth year after the sons of Israel came out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, that is, the second month, that he [a]began to build the house of the Lord. And the house which King Solomon built for the Lord was [b]sixty cubits in its length, and twenty cubits in its width, and its height was thirty cubits. The porch in front of the main room of the house was [c]twenty cubits in [d]length, [e]corresponding to the width of the house, and its width along the front of the house was ten cubits. Also for the house (B)he made windows with artistic frames.

1 Kings 6:21-22

21 So Solomon overlaid the inside of the house with pure gold. And he extended chains of gold across the front of the inner sanctuary, and he overlaid it with gold. 22 He overlaid the entire house with gold, until all the house was finished. Also (A)the entire altar which was by the inner sanctuary he overlaid with gold.

1 Corinthians 3:10-23

10 According to (A)the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder (B)I laid a foundation, and (C)another is building on it. But each person must be careful how he builds on it. 11 For no one can lay a (D)foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, 13 (E)each one’s work will become evident; for (F)the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test [a]the quality of each one’s work. 14 If anyone’s work which he has built on it remains, he will (G)receive a reward. 15 If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet only (H)so as through fire.

16 (I)Do you not know that (J)you are a [b]temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17 If anyone destroys the [c]temple of God, God will destroy [d]that person; for the [e]temple of God is holy, [f]and that is what you are.

18 (K)Take care that no one deceives himself. (L)If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in (M)this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise. 19 For (N)the wisdom of this world is foolishness in the sight of God. For it is written: “He is (O)the one who catches the wise by their craftiness”; 20 and again, “(P)The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are useless.” 21 So then, (Q)no one is to be boasting in people. For (R)all things belong to you, 22 (S)whether Paul or Apollos or [g]Cephas, or the world or (T)life or death, or things present or things to come; all things belong to you, 23 and (U)you belong to Christ, and (V)Christ belongs to God.
