Psalm 147:1-11

He Heals the Broken-hearted

147 (A)Praise the Lord!
For (B)it is good to sing praises to our God;
    for (C)it is pleasant,[a] and (D)a song of praise is fitting.
The Lord (E)builds up Jerusalem;
    he (F)gathers the outcasts of Israel.
He heals (G)the broken-hearted
    and (H)binds up their wounds.
He (I)determines the number of the stars;
    he (J)gives to all of them their names.
(K)Great is our Lord, and (L)abundant in power;
    (M)his understanding is beyond measure.
The Lord (N)lifts up the humble;[b]
    he casts the wicked to the ground.
(O)Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;
    make melody to our God on (P)the lyre!
He covers the heavens with clouds;
    he prepares (Q)rain for the earth;
    he makes (R)grass grow on the hills.
He (S)gives to the beasts their food,
    and to (T)the young ravens that cry.
10 His delight is not in (U)the strength of the horse,
    nor his pleasure in the legs of a man,
11 but the Lord (V)takes pleasure in those who fear him,
    in those who (W)hope in his steadfast love.

Psalm 147:20

20 He (A)has not dealt thus with any other nation;
    they do not know his rules.[a]
(B)Praise the Lord!

Proverbs 12:10-21

10 (A)Whoever is righteous has regard for the life of his beast,
    but the mercy of the wicked is cruel.
11 (B)Whoever works his land (C)will have plenty of bread,
    (D)but he who follows (E)worthless pursuits lacks sense.
12 Whoever is wicked covets (F)the spoil of evildoers,
    but the root of the righteous bears fruit.
13 An evil man is ensnared (G)by the transgression of his lips,
    (H)but the righteous escapes from trouble.
14 From the fruit of his mouth (I)a man is satisfied with good,
    (J)and the work of a man's hand comes back to him.
15 (K)The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,
    but a wise man listens to advice.
16 (L)The vexation of a fool is known at once,
    but the prudent ignores an insult.
17 (M)Whoever speaks[a] the truth gives honest evidence,
    but (N)a false witness utters deceit.
18 (O)There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts,
    but the tongue of the wise brings (P)healing.
19 Truthful lips endure for ever,
    but (Q)a lying tongue is but for a moment.
20 Deceit is in the heart of (R)those who devise evil,
    but those who plan peace have joy.
21 (S)No ill befalls the righteous,
    but the wicked are filled with trouble.

Galatians 5:2-15

Look: I, Paul, say to you that (A)if you accept circumcision, (B)Christ will be of no advantage to you. I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that (C)he is obligated to keep the whole law. You are (D)severed from Christ, (E)you who would be justified[a] by the law; (F)you have fallen away from grace. For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly (G)wait for the hope of righteousness. For in Christ Jesus (H)neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but (I)only faith working through love.

(J)You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying (K)the truth? This persuasion is not from (L)him who calls you. (M)A little leaven leavens the whole lump. 10 (N)I have confidence in the Lord that you will (O)take no other view than mine, and (P)the one who is troubling you will bear the penalty, whoever he is. 11 But if I, brothers,[b] still preach[c] circumcision, (Q)why am I still being persecuted? In that case (R)the offence of the cross has been removed. 12 I wish (S)those who unsettle you would emasculate themselves!

13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. (T)Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love (U)serve one another. 14 For (V)the whole law is fulfilled in one word: (W)“You shall love your neighbour as yourself.” 15 But if you (X)bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.
