Psalm 69:1-5

Save Me, O God

To the choirmaster: according to (A)Lilies. Of David.

69 Save me, O God!
    For (B)the waters have come up to my neck.[a]
I sink in deep (C)mire,
    where there is no foothold;
I have come into deep waters,
    and the flood (D)sweeps over me.
(E)I am weary with my crying out;
    (F)my throat is parched.
(G)My eyes grow dim
    with (H)waiting for my God.
(I)More in number than the hairs of my head
    are (J)those who hate me (K)without cause;
mighty are those who would destroy me,
    (L)those who attack me with lies.
What I did not steal
    must I now restore?
O God, you know my folly;
    the wrongs I have done are not hidden from you.

Psalm 69:30-36

30 I will (A)praise the name of God with a song;
    I will (B)magnify him with (C)thanksgiving.
31 This will (D)please the Lord more than an ox
    or a bull (E)with horns and hoofs.
32 When (F)the humble see it they will be glad;
    you who seek God, (G)let your hearts revive.
33 For the Lord hears the needy
    and (H)does not despise his own people who are prisoners.
34 Let (I)heaven and earth praise him,
    the seas and everything that moves in them.
35 For (J)God will save Zion
    and build up the cities of Judah,
and people shall dwell there and possess it;
36     (K)the offspring of his servants shall inherit it,
    and those who love his name shall dwell in it.

Isaiah 41:14-20

14 Fear not, you (A)worm Jacob,
    you men of Israel!
I am the one who helps you, declares the Lord;
    your (B)Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.
15 (C)Behold, I make of you a threshing sledge,
    new, sharp, and having teeth;
you shall thresh (D)the mountains and crush them,
    and you shall make the hills like chaff;
16 (E)you shall winnow them, and (F)the wind shall carry them away,
    and the tempest shall scatter them.
(G)And you shall rejoice in the Lord;
    in the Holy One of Israel you shall glory.
17 (H)When the poor and needy seek water,
    and there is none,
    and their tongue is parched with thirst,
I the Lord will answer them;
    I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
18 (I)I will open rivers on the bare heights,
    and fountains in the midst of the valleys.
(J)I will make the wilderness a pool of water,
    and the dry land springs of water.
19 (K)I will put in the wilderness the cedar,
    the acacia, the myrtle, and the olive.
I will set in the desert (L)the cypress,
    the plane and the pine together,
20 that they may see and know,
    may consider and understand together,
that (M)the hand of the Lord has done this,
    the Holy One of Israel has created it.

John 1:29-34

Behold, the Lamb of God

29 The next day he saw Jesus coming towards him, and said, “Behold, (A)the Lamb of God, who (B)takes away the sin (C)of the world! 30 This is he of whom I said, (D)‘After me comes a man who ranks before me, because he was before me.’ 31 I myself did not know him, but (E)for this purpose I came baptizing with water, that he might be revealed to Israel.” 32 And John (F)bore witness: (G)“I saw the Spirit descend from heaven like a dove, and (H)it remained on him. 33 I myself did not know him, but (I)he who sent me to baptize (J)with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, (K)this is he who baptizes (L)with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.”
