Psalm 69:1-5

Save Me, O God

To the choirmaster: according to (A)Lilies. Of David.

69 Save me, O God!
    For (B)the waters have come up to my neck.[a]
I sink in deep (C)mire,
    where there is no foothold;
I have come into deep waters,
    and the flood (D)sweeps over me.
(E)I am weary with my crying out;
    (F)my throat is parched.
(G)My eyes grow dim
    with (H)waiting for my God.
(I)More in number than the hairs of my head
    are (J)those who hate me (K)without cause;
mighty are those who would destroy me,
    (L)those who attack me with lies.
What I did not steal
    must I now restore?
O God, you know my folly;
    the wrongs I have done are not hidden from you.

Psalm 69:30-36

30 I will (A)praise the name of God with a song;
    I will (B)magnify him with (C)thanksgiving.
31 This will (D)please the Lord more than an ox
    or a bull (E)with horns and hoofs.
32 When (F)the humble see it they will be glad;
    you who seek God, (G)let your hearts revive.
33 For the Lord hears the needy
    and (H)does not despise his own people who are prisoners.
34 Let (I)heaven and earth praise him,
    the seas and everything that moves in them.
35 For (J)God will save Zion
    and build up the cities of Judah,
and people shall dwell there and possess it;
36     (K)the offspring of his servants shall inherit it,
    and those who love his name shall dwell in it.

Exodus 30:22-38

The Anointing Oil and Incense

22 The Lord said to Moses, 23 “Take the (A)finest spices: of liquid myrrh 500 shekels, and of sweet-smelling cinnamon half as much, that is, 250, and 250 of (B)aromatic cane, 24 and 500 of cassia, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and a (C)hin[a] of olive oil. 25 And you shall make of these a sacred anointing oil blended as by the (D)perfumer; it shall be a (E)holy anointing oil. 26 (F)With it you shall anoint the tent of meeting and the ark of the testimony, 27 and the table and all its utensils, and the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense, 28 and the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils and the (G)basin and its stand. 29 You shall consecrate them, that they may be most holy. (H)Whatever touches them will become holy. 30 (I)You shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may serve me as priests. 31 And you shall say to the people of Israel, ‘This shall be my holy anointing oil throughout your generations. 32 It shall not be poured on the body of an ordinary person, and you shall make no other like it in composition. (J)It is holy, and it shall be holy to you. 33 (K)Whoever compounds any like it or whoever puts any of it on an outsider shall be cut off from his people.’”

34 The Lord said to Moses, (L)“Take sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum, sweet spices with pure frankincense (of each shall there be an equal part), 35 and make an (M)incense blended as by the (N)perfumer, (O)seasoned with salt, pure and holy. 36 You shall beat some of it very small, and put part of it before the testimony in the tent of meeting (P)where I shall meet with you. (Q)It shall be most holy for you. 37 And the incense that you shall make (R)according to its composition, you shall not make for yourselves. It shall be for you holy to the Lord. 38 (S)Whoever makes any like it to use as perfume shall be cut off from his people.”

Acts 22:2-16

And when they heard that he was addressing them in (A)the Hebrew language, they became even more quiet. And he said:

(B)“I am a Jew, born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city, educated (C)at the feet of (D)Gamaliel[a] (E)according to the strict manner of the law of our fathers, (F)being zealous for God (G)as all of you are this day. (H)I persecuted (I)this Way (J)to the death, binding and delivering to prison both men and women, as (K)the high priest and (L)the whole council of elders can bear me witness. From them I received letters to (M)the brothers, and I journeyed towards Damascus to take those also who were there and bring them in bonds to Jerusalem to be punished.

(N)“As I was on my way and drew near to Damascus, about noon a great light from heaven suddenly shone around me. And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’ And I answered, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And he said to me, ‘I am (O)Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting.’ (P)Now those who were with me saw the light but did not understand[b] the voice of the one who was speaking to me. 10 And I said, (Q)‘What shall I do, Lord?’ And the Lord said to me, ‘Rise, and go into Damascus, and there you will be told all that is appointed for you to do.’ 11 And since I could not see because of the brightness of that light, I was led by the hand by those who were with me, and came into Damascus.

12 “And (R)one Ananias, a devout man (S)according to the law, (T)well spoken of by all the Jews who lived there, 13 (U)came to me, and standing by me said to me, ‘Brother Saul, receive your sight.’ And (V)at that very hour I received my sight and saw him. 14 And he said, (W)‘The God of our fathers (X)appointed you to know his will, (Y)to see (Z)the Righteous One and (AA)to hear a voice from his mouth; 15 for (AB)you will be a witness for him to everyone of what (AC)you have seen and heard. 16 And now why do you wait? (AD)Rise and be baptized and (AE)wash away your sins, (AF)calling on his name.’
