Psalm 119:33-40

He

33 (A)Teach me, the way of Your statutes, Lord,
And I shall comply with it to the end.
34 (B)Give me understanding, so that I may (C)comply with Your Law
And keep it (D)with all my heart.
35 Make me walk in the (E)path of Your commandments,
For I (F)delight in it.
36 (G)Incline my heart to Your testimonies,
And not to (H)dishonest gain.
37 Turn my (I)eyes away from looking at what is worthless,
And (J)revive me in Your ways.
38 (K)Establish Your [a]word to Your servant
[b]As that which produces reverence for You.
39 (L)Take away my disgrace which I dread,
For Your judgments are good.
40 Behold, I (M)long for Your precepts;
Revive me through Your righteousness.

Ezekiel 33:1-6

The Watchman’s Duty

33 Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Son of man, speak to the (A)sons of your people and say to them, ‘If I bring a sword upon a land, and the people of the land take one man from among them and make him their watchman, and he sees the sword coming upon the land and (B)blows the [a]horn and warns the people, then [b]someone who hears the sound of the horn but (C)does not take warning, and a sword comes and takes him away, his (D)blood will be on his own head. He heard the sound of the horn but did not take warning; his blood will be on himself. But had he taken warning, he would have (E)saved his life. But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the horn and the people are not warned, and a sword comes and takes a person from them, he is (F)taken away for his wrongdoing; but I will [c]require his (G)blood from the watchman’s hand.’

Matthew 23:29-36

29 (A)Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs for the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous, 30 and you say, ‘If we had been living in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ 31 So you testify against yourselves, that you (B)are [a]sons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 [b]Fill up, then, the measure of the guilt of your fathers. 33 You snakes, (C)you [c]offspring of vipers, how [d]will you escape the [e]sentence of [f](D)hell?

34 (E)Therefore, behold, (F)I am sending you prophets and wise men and scribes; some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will (G)flog in your synagogues, and (H)persecute from city to city, 35 so that upon you will fall the guilt of all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous (I)Abel to the blood of Zechariah, the (J)son of Berechiah, whom (K)you murdered between the [g]temple and the altar. 36 Truly I say to you, all these things will come upon (L)this generation.
