Psalm 26:1-8

I Will Bless the Lord

Of David.

26 (A)Vindicate me, O Lord,
for I have (B)walked in my integrity,
and I have (C)trusted in the Lord without wavering.
(D)Prove me, O Lord, and try me;
test my heart and (E)my mind.[a]
For your (F)steadfast love is before my eyes,
    and I (G)walk in your (H)faithfulness.
I do not (I)sit with men of (J)falsehood,
nor do I consort with hypocrites.
I (K)hate the assembly of evildoers,
and I will not sit with the wicked.
I (L)wash my hands in innocence
and go round your altar, O Lord,
proclaiming thanksgiving aloud,
and telling all your (M)wondrous deeds.
O Lord, I (N)love the habitation of your house
and the place where your glory dwells.

Jeremiah 14:13-18

Lying Prophets

13 Then I said: “Ah, Lord God, behold, the prophets (A)say to them, ‘You shall not see the sword, nor shall you have famine, but I will give you assured peace in this place.’” 14 And the Lord said to me: “The (B)prophets are prophesying lies in my name. (C)I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a lying vision, (D)worthless divination, and (E)the deceit of their own minds. 15 Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name although (F)I did not send them, and who say, (G)‘Sword and famine shall not come upon this land’: (H)By sword and famine those prophets shall be consumed. 16 And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem, victims of famine and sword, (I)with none to bury them—them, their wives, their sons, and their daughters. For I will pour out their evil upon them.

17 “You shall say to them this word:
(J)‘Let my eyes run down with tears night and day,
    and let them not cease,
for the virgin (K)daughter of my people is shattered with a great wound,
    (L)with a very grievous blow.
18 (M)If I go out into the field,
behold, those pierced by the sword!
(N)And if I enter the city,
    behold, the diseases of famine!
(O)For both prophet and priest ply their trade through the land
    and have no knowledge.’”

Ephesians 5:1-6

Walk in Love

(A)Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And (B)walk in love, (C)as Christ loved us and (D)gave himself up for us, a (E)fragrant (F)offering and sacrifice to God.

But (G)sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness (H)must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. Let there be (I)no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, (J)which are out of place, but instead (K)let there be thanksgiving. For you may be sure of this, that (L)everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous ((M)that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. (N)Let no one (O)deceive you with empty words, for because of these things (P)the wrath of God comes upon (Q)the sons of disobedience.
