75 We (A)give thanks to You, God, we give thanks,
For Your name is (B)near;
People declare (C)Your wondrous works.
2 “When I select an (D)appointed time,
It is I who (E)judge fairly.
3 The (F)earth and all who inhabit it [b]are unsteady;
It is I who have firmly set its (G)pillars. Selah
4 I said to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’
And to the wicked, ‘(H)Do not lift up the horn;
5 Do not lift up your horn on high,
(I)Do not speak with insolent [c]pride.’”
6 For not from the east, nor from the west,
Nor from the [d](J)desert comes exaltation;
7 But (K)God is the Judge;
He (L)puts down one and exalts another.
8 For a (M)cup is in the hand of the Lord, and the wine foams;
It is [e](N)well mixed, and He pours out of this;
Certainly all the wicked of the earth must drain and (O)drink its dregs.
God Is Awesome
1 The (A)pronouncement of (B)Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite:
2 A (C)jealous and avenging God is the Lord;
The Lord is (D)avenging and [a]wrathful.
The Lord takes (E)vengeance on His adversaries,
And He reserves wrath for His enemies.
3 The Lord is (F)slow to anger and great in power,
And the Lord will by no means leave the guilty unpunished.
In the (G)gale and the storm is His way,
And (H)clouds are the dust beneath His feet.
4 He (I)rebukes the sea and dries it up;
He dries up all the rivers.
(J)Bashan and Carmel wither,
The blossoms of Lebanon wither.
5 Mountains (K)quake because of Him,
And the hills (L)come apart;
Indeed the earth is (M)upheaved by His presence,
The (N)world and all the inhabitants in it.
6 (O)Who can stand before His indignation?
Who can endure the (P)burning of His anger?
His (Q)wrath gushes forth like fire,
And the (R)rocks are broken up by Him.
7 The Lord is (S)good,
A stronghold in the day of trouble,
And (T)He knows those who take refuge in Him.
8 But with an (U)overflowing flood
He will make a complete end of [b]its site,
And will pursue His enemies into (V)darkness.
9 Whatever you (W)devise against the Lord,
He will make a (X)complete end of it.
Distress will not rise up twice.
10 Like tangled (Y)thorns,
And like those who are (Z)drunken with their drink,
They are (AA)consumed
Like stubble completely dried up.
11 From you has gone out
One who (AB)plotted evil against the Lord,
A [c](AC)wicked counselor.
12 This is what the Lord says:
12 Here is (A)the [a]perseverance of the [b]saints who (B)keep the commandments of God and [c](C)their faith in Jesus.
13 And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, “Write: ‘(D)Blessed are the dead who (E)die in the Lord from now on!’” “Yes,” (F)says the Spirit, “so that they may (G)rest from their labors, for their (H)deeds follow with them.”
The Harvest
14 Then I looked, and behold, a (I)white cloud, and sitting on the cloud was one (J)like [d]a son of man, with a golden (K)crown on His head and a sharp sickle in His hand. 15 And another angel (L)came out of the [e]temple, calling out with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, “[f](M)Put in your sickle and reap, for the hour to reap has come, because the (N)harvest of the earth [g]is ripe.” 16 Then He who sat on the cloud [h]swung His sickle over the earth, and the earth was reaped.
17 And another angel (O)came out of the [i]temple which is in heaven, and he also had a sharp sickle. 18 Then another angel, (P)the one who has power over fire, came out from (Q)the altar; and he called with a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, “[j](R)Put in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters [k]from the vine of the earth, (S)because her grapes are ripe.” 19 So the angel [l]swung his sickle to the earth and gathered the clusters from the vine of the earth, and threw them into (T)the great wine press of the wrath of God. 20 And (U)the wine press was trampled (V)outside the city, and (W)blood came out from the wine press, up to the horses’ bridles, [m]for a distance of [n]1,600 stadia.
