Psalm 119:161-168

Shin

161 (A)Rulers persecute me without cause,
But my heart (B)stands in awe of Your words.
162 I (C)rejoice at Your [a]word,
Like one who (D)finds great plunder.
163 I (E)hate and loathe falsehood,
But I (F)love Your Law.
164 Seven times a day I praise You
Because of Your (G)righteous judgments.
165 Those who love Your Law have (H)great peace,
And [b](I)nothing causes them to stumble.
166 I (J)hope for Your salvation, Lord,
And do Your commandments.
167 My (K)soul keeps Your testimonies,
And I (L)love them exceedingly.
168 I (M)keep Your precepts and Your testimonies,
For all my (N)ways are before You.

1 Kings 21:17-29

17 Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, 18 “Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, (A)who is in Samaria; behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, where he has gone down to take possession of it. 19 And you shall speak to him, saying, ‘This is what the Lord says: “(B)Have you murdered and also taken possession?”’ And you shall speak to him, saying, ‘The Lord says this: “(C)In the place where the dogs licked up the blood of Naboth, the dogs will lick up your blood, yours as well.”’”

20 Then Ahab said to Elijah, “(D)Have you found me, enemy of mine?” And he [a]answered, “I have found you, (E)because you have given yourself over to do evil in the sight of the Lord. 21 Behold, I am bringing disaster upon you, and I (F)will utterly sweep you away, and will eliminate from Ahab every male, both [b]bond and free in Israel; 22 and (G)I will make your house (H)like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, because of the provocation with which you have provoked Me to anger, and because you (I)have misled Israel into sin. 23 The Lord has also spoken of Jezebel, saying, ‘(J)The dogs will eat Jezebel in the [c]territory of Jezreel.’ 24 (K)The one belonging to Ahab, who dies in the city, the dogs will eat; and the one who dies in the field, the birds of the sky will eat.”

25 (L)There certainly was no one like Ahab who gave himself over to do evil in the sight of the Lord, [d]because Jezebel his wife incited him. 26 (M)He also acted very despicably in following idols, (N)conforming to everything that the Amorites had done, whom the Lord drove out from the sons of Israel.

27 Yet it came about, when Ahab heard these words, that (O)he tore his clothes and put [e]on sackcloth and fasted, and he lay in sackcloth and went about despondently. 28 Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, 29 “Do you see how Ahab has humbled himself before Me? Because he has humbled himself before Me, I will not bring the disaster in his days; I will bring the disaster upon his house (P)in his son’s days.”

1 John 4:1-6

Testing the Spirits

(A)Beloved, do not believe every (B)spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because (C)many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: (D)every spirit that (E)confesses that (F)Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that (G)does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the (H)antichrist, which you have heard is coming, and (I)now it is already in the world. You are from God, (J)little children, and (K)have overcome them; because (L)greater is He who is in you than (M)he who is in the world. (N)They are from the world, therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them. (O)We are from God. (P)The one who knows God listens to us; (Q)the one who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know (R)the spirit of truth and (S)the spirit of error.
