143 Hear my prayer, Lord,
(A)Listen to my pleadings!
Answer me in Your (B)faithfulness, in Your (C)righteousness!
2 And (D)do not enter into judgment with Your servant,
For (E)no person living is righteous in Your sight.
3 For the enemy has persecuted my soul;
He has crushed my life (F)to the ground;
He (G)has made me dwell in dark places, like those who have long been dead.
4 Therefore (H)my spirit [a]feels weak within me;
My heart is [b](I)appalled within me.
5 I (J)remember the days of old;
I (K)meditate on all Your accomplishments;
I (L)reflect on the work of Your hands.
6 I (M)spread out my hands to You;
My (N)soul longs for You, like a weary land. Selah
7 (O)Answer me quickly, Lord, my (P)spirit fails;
(Q)Do not hide Your face from me,
Or I will be the same as (R)those who go down to the pit.
8 Let me hear Your (S)faithfulness (T)in the morning,
For I trust (U)in You;
Teach me the (V)way in which I should walk;
For to You I (W)lift up my soul.
9 (X)Save me, Lord, from my enemies;
[c]I take refuge in You.
10 (Y)Teach me to do Your will,
For You are my God;
Let (Z)Your good Spirit (AA)lead me on level [d]ground.
11 (AB)For the sake of Your name, Lord, (AC)revive me.
(AD)In Your righteousness bring my soul out of trouble.
12 And in Your faithfulness, [e](AE)destroy my enemies,
And (AF)eliminate all those who attack my soul,
For (AG)I am Your servant.
Elijah Raises the Widow’s Son
17 Now it happened after these things that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became sick; and his [a]condition became very grave, until at the end [b]he was no longer breathing. 18 So she said to Elijah, “[c](A)Why is my business any of yours, you (B)man of God? Yet you have come to me to bring my wrongdoing to remembrance, and to put my son to death!” 19 But he said to her, “Give me your son.” Then he took him from her [d]arms and carried him up to the upstairs room where he was living, and laid him on his own bed. 20 And he called to the Lord and said, “Lord, my God, have You also brought catastrophe upon the widow with whom I am [e]staying, by causing her son to die?” 21 (C)Then he stretched himself out over the boy three times, and called to the Lord and said, “Lord, my God, please, let this boy’s life return [f]to him.” 22 And the Lord listened to the voice of Elijah, (D)and the life of the boy returned [g]to him and he revived. 23 Elijah then took the boy and brought him down from the upstairs room into the house and gave him to his mother; and Elijah said, “See, your son is alive.” 24 Then the woman said to Elijah, “(E)Now I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is truth.”
7 On (A)the first day of the week, when (B)we were gathered together to (C)break bread, Paul began talking to them, intending to leave the next day, and he prolonged his [a]message until midnight. 8 There were many (D)lamps in the (E)upstairs room where we were gathered together. 9 And there was a young man named [b]Eutychus sitting [c]on the window sill, sinking into a deep sleep; and as Paul kept on talking, Eutychus was overcome by sleep and fell down from the third floor, and was picked up dead. 10 But Paul went down and (F)fell upon him, and after embracing him, he (G)said, “[d]Do not be troubled, for [e]he is still alive.” 11 When Paul had gone back up and had (H)broken the bread and [f]eaten, he talked with them a long while until daybreak, and then left. 12 They took away the boy alive, and were [g]greatly comforted.
