Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
Put Not Your Trust in Princes
146 (A)Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
2 I will praise the Lord (B)as long as I live;
(C)I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
3 (D)Put not your trust in princes,
(E)in a son of man, in whom there is (F)no salvation.
4 When (G)his breath departs, he returns to the earth;
on that very day his plans perish.
5 (H)Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose (I)hope is in the Lord his God,
6 (J)who made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that is in them,
(K)who keeps faith forever;
7 (L)who executes justice for the oppressed,
(M)who gives food to the hungry.
17 Instead of bronze I will bring gold,
and instead of iron I will bring silver;
instead of wood, bronze,
instead of stones, iron.
I will make your overseers peace
(A)and your taskmasters righteousness.
18 (B)Violence shall no more be heard in your land,
devastation or destruction within your borders;
(C)you shall call your walls Salvation,
and your gates Praise.
19 (D)The sun shall be no more
your light by day,
nor for brightness shall the moon
give you light;[a]
but the Lord will be your everlasting light,
and your God will be your glory.[b]
20 Your sun shall no more go down,
nor your moon withdraw itself;
for the Lord will be your everlasting light,
and (E)your days of mourning shall be ended.
21 (F)Your people shall all be righteous;
(G)they shall possess the land forever,
(H)the branch of my planting, the work of my hands,
that I might be glorified.[c]
22 (I)The least one shall become a clan,
and the smallest one a mighty nation;
(J)I am the Lord;
in its time I will hasten it.
Jesus Heals Two Blind Men
27 (A)And as Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed him, crying aloud, “Have mercy on us, (B)Son of David.” 28 When he entered the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to him, “Yes, Lord.” 29 (C)Then he touched their eyes, saying, (D)“According to your faith be it done to you.” 30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, (E)“See that no one knows about it.” 31 (F)But they went away and spread his fame through all that district.
Jesus Heals a Man Unable to Speak
32 As they were going away, behold, a (G)demon-oppressed man who was mute (H)was brought to him. 33 And when the demon had been cast out, the mute man spoke. And the crowds (I)marveled, saying, “Never was anything like this seen in Israel.” 34 But the Pharisees said, “He casts out demons by the prince of demons.”
