Genesis 18:1-10

Birth of Isaac Promised

18 Now (A)the Lord appeared to [a]Abraham by the [b](B)oaks of Mamre, while he was sitting at the tent door in the heat of the day. When he raised his eyes and looked, behold, three (C)men were standing opposite him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed down to the ground, and said, “[c]My Lord, if now I have found favor in Your sight, please do not [d]pass Your servant by. Please let a little water be brought and (D)wash [e]your feet, and make yourselves comfortable under the tree; and I will [f](E)bring a piece of bread, so that you may [g]refresh yourselves; after that you may go on, since you have [h]visited your servant.” And they said, “So do as you have said.” So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah, and said, “[i]Quickly, prepare three [j]measures of fine flour, knead it, and make bread cakes.” Abraham also ran to the herd, and took a tender and [k]choice calf and gave it to the servant, and he hurried to prepare it. He took curds and milk and the calf which he had prepared, and set it before them; and he was standing by them under the tree [l]as they ate.

Then they said to him, “Where is your wife Sarah?” And he said, “There, in the tent.” 10 He said, “(F)I will certainly return to you [m]at this time next year; and behold, your wife Sarah will have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent door, which was behind him.

Psalm 15

Description of a Citizen of Zion.

A Psalm of David.

15 Lord, who may reside (A)in Your tent?
Who may settle on Your (B)holy hill?
One who (C)walks with integrity, practices righteousness,
And (D)speaks truth in his heart.
He (E)does not slander [a]with his tongue,
Nor (F)do evil to his neighbor,
Nor (G)bring shame on his friend;
A despicable person is despised in his eyes,
But he (H)honors those who fear the Lord;
He (I)takes an oath to his own detriment, and does not change;
He (J)does not [b]lend his money [c]at interest,
Nor (K)does he take a bribe against the innocent.
(L)One who does these things will never be shaken.

Colossians 1:15-28

15 [a]He is the (A)image of the (B)invisible God, the (C)firstborn of all creation: 16 for [b](D)by Him all things were created, (E)both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether (F)thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities—(G)all things have been created through Him and for Him. 17 He [c](H)is before all things, and in Him all things [d]hold together. 18 He is also the (I)head of (J)the body, the church; and He is (K)the beginning, (L)the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. 19 For [e]it was (M)the Father’s good pleasure for all (N)the [f]fullness to dwell in Him, 20 and through Him to (O)reconcile all things to Himself, (P)whether things on earth or things in [g]heaven, having made (Q)peace through (R)the blood of His cross.

21 And although you were (S)previously alienated and hostile in attitude, engaged in evil deeds, 22 yet He has now (T)reconciled you in His (U)body of flesh through death, in order to (V)present you before Him (W)holy and blameless and beyond reproach— 23 if indeed you continue in [h]the faith firmly (X)established and steadfast, and not shifting from the (Y)hope of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed (Z)in all creation under heaven, (AA)and of which I, Paul, [i]was made a [j](AB)minister.

24 (AC)Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh (AD)I am supplementing what is lacking [k]in Christ’s afflictions in behalf of (AE)His body, which is the church. 25 (AF)I [l]was made a minister of this church according to the (AG)commission from God granted to me for your benefit, so that I might [m]fully carry out the preaching of the word of God, 26 that is, (AH)the mystery which had been hidden from the past ages and generations, but now has been revealed to His [n]saints, 27 to whom (AI)God willed to make known what (AJ)the wealth of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles is, the mystery that is (AK)Christ in you, the (AL)hope of glory. 28 We proclaim Him, (AM)admonishing every person and teaching every person [o]with all (AN)wisdom, so that we may (AO)present every person [p](AP)complete in Christ.

Luke 10:38-42

Martha and Mary

38 Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named (A)Martha welcomed Him into her home. 39 And she had a sister called (B)Mary, who was also (C)seated at the Lord’s feet, and was listening to His word. 40 But (D)Martha was distracted with [a]all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do the serving [b]by myself? Then tell her to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered and said to her, (E)Martha, Martha, you are (F)worried and distracted by many things; 42 (G)but only one thing is necessary; for (H)Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
