Version
Psalm 124

Praise for Rescue from Enemies.

A Song of Ascents, of David.

124 (A)Had it not been the Lord who was on our side,”
(B)Let Israel say,
“Had it not been the Lord who was on our side
When people rose up against us,
Then they would have (C)swallowed us alive,
When their (D)anger was kindled against us;
Then the (E)waters would have flooded over us,
The stream would have [a]swept over our souls;
Then the (F)raging waters would have [b]swept over our souls.”

Blessed be the Lord,
Who has not given us [c]to be (G)torn by their teeth.
Our souls have (H)escaped (I)like a bird from the trapper’s (J)snare;
The snare is broken and we have escaped.
Our (K)help is in the name of the Lord,
Who (L)made heaven and earth.

Proverbs 8:4-21

“To you, people, I call,
And my voice is to [a]mankind.
You (A)naive ones, understand prudence;
And, you (B)fools, understand [b]wisdom!
Listen, for I will speak (C)noble things;
And the opening of my lips will reveal (D)right things.
For my (E)mouth will proclaim truth;
And wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
All the words of my mouth are in righteousness;
There is nothing (F)crooked or perverted in them.
They are all (G)straightforward to him who understands,
And right to those who (H)find knowledge.
10 Accept my (I)instruction and not silver,
And knowledge rather than choice gold.
11 For wisdom is (J)better than [c]jewels;
And (K)all desirable things cannot compare with her.

12 “I, wisdom, (L)dwell with prudence,
And I find (M)knowledge and discretion.
13 The (N)fear of the Lord is to hate evil;
(O)Pride, arrogance, (P)the evil way,
And the (Q)perverted mouth, I hate.
14 (R)Advice is mine and (S)sound wisdom;
I am understanding, (T)power is mine.
15 By me (U)kings reign,
And rulers decree justice.
16 By me princes rule, and nobles,
All who judge rightly.
17 I (V)love those who love me;
And (W)those who diligently seek me will find me.
18 (X)Riches and honor are with me,
Enduring (Y)wealth and righteousness.
19 My fruit is (Z)better than gold, even pure gold;
And my yield better than (AA)choice silver.
20 I walk in the way of righteousness,
In the midst of the paths of justice,
21 To endow those who love me with wealth,
That I may (AB)fill their treasuries.

Ephesians 5:15-20

15 So then, [a]be careful how you (A)walk, not (B)as unwise people but as wise, 16 [b](C)making the most of your time, because (D)the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but (E)understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And (F)do not get drunk with wine, [c]in which there is (G)debauchery, but be (H)filled with the Spirit, 19 (I)speaking to [d]one another in (J)psalms and (K)hymns and spiritual (L)songs, (M)singing and making melody with your hearts to the Lord; 20 (N)always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to our (O)God and Father;
