Version
Psalm 148

Psalm 148[a]

148 Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord from the sky.
Praise him in the heavens.
Praise him, all his angels.[b]
Praise him, all his heavenly assembly.[c]
Praise him, O sun and moon.
Praise him, all you shiny stars.[d]
Praise him, O highest heaven,
and you waters above the sky.[e]
Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for he gave the command and they came into existence.
He established them so they would endure;[f]
he issued a decree that will not be revoked.[g]
Praise the Lord from the earth,
you sea creatures and all you ocean depths,
O fire and hail, snow and clouds,[h]
O stormy wind that carries out his orders,[i]
you mountains and all you hills,
you fruit trees and all you cedars,
10 you animals and all you cattle,
you creeping things and birds,
11 you kings of the earth and all you nations,
you princes and all you leaders[j] on the earth,
12 you young men and young women,
you elderly, along with you children.
13 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for his name alone is exalted;
his majesty extends over the earth and sky.
14 He has made his people victorious,[k]
and given all his loyal followers reason to praise—
the Israelites, the people who are close to him.[l]
Praise the Lord!

Proverbs 8:32-36

32 “So now, children,[a] listen to me;

blessed are those who keep my ways.
33 Listen to my instruction[b] so that you may be wise,[c]
and do not neglect it.
34 Blessed is the one[d] who listens to me,
watching[e] at my doors day by day,
waiting[f] beside my doorway.[g]
35 For the one who finds me has found[h] life
and received[i] favor from the Lord.
36 But the one who misses me[j] brings harm[k] to himself;[l]
all who hate[m] me love death.”

John 21:19-24

19 (Now Jesus[a] said this to indicate clearly by what kind of death Peter[b] was going to glorify God.)[c] After he said this, Jesus told Peter,[d] “Follow me.”

Peter and the Disciple Jesus Loved

20 Peter turned around and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them.[e] (This was the disciple[f] who had leaned back against Jesus’[g] chest at the meal and asked,[h] “Lord, who is the one who is going to betray you?”)[i] 21 So when Peter saw him,[j] he asked Jesus, “Lord, what about him?” 22 Jesus replied,[k] “If I want him to live[l] until I come back,[m] what concern is that of yours? You follow me!” 23 So the saying circulated[n] among the brothers and sisters[o] that this disciple was not going to die. But Jesus did not say to him that he was not going to die, but rather, “If I want him to live[p] until I come back,[q] what concern is that of yours?”

A Final Note

24 This is the disciple who testifies about these things and has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true.
