Psalm 119:97-104

מ Mem

97 Oh, how I love your law!(A)
    I meditate(B) on it all day long.
98 Your commands are always with me
    and make me wiser(C) than my enemies.
99 I have more insight than all my teachers,
    for I meditate on your statutes.(D)
100 I have more understanding than the elders,
    for I obey your precepts.(E)
101 I have kept my feet(F) from every evil path
    so that I might obey your word.(G)
102 I have not departed from your laws,(H)
    for you yourself have taught(I) me.
103 How sweet are your words to my taste,
    sweeter than honey(J) to my mouth!(K)
104 I gain understanding(L) from your precepts;
    therefore I hate every wrong path.(M)

Isaiah 33:10-16

10 “Now will I arise,(A)” says the Lord.
    “Now will I be exalted;(B)
    now will I be lifted up.
11 You conceive(C) chaff,
    you give birth(D) to straw;
    your breath is a fire(E) that consumes you.
12 The peoples will be burned to ashes;(F)
    like cut thornbushes(G) they will be set ablaze.(H)

13 You who are far away,(I) hear(J) what I have done;
    you who are near, acknowledge my power!
14 The sinners(K) in Zion are terrified;
    trembling(L) grips the godless:
“Who of us can dwell with the consuming fire?(M)
    Who of us can dwell with everlasting burning?”
15 Those who walk righteously(N)
    and speak what is right,(O)
who reject gain from extortion(P)
    and keep their hands from accepting bribes,(Q)
who stop their ears against plots of murder
    and shut their eyes(R) against contemplating evil—
16 they are the ones who will dwell on the heights,(S)
    whose refuge(T) will be the mountain fortress.(U)
Their bread will be supplied,
    and water will not fail(V) them.

John 15:16-25

16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you(A) so that you might go and bear fruit(B)—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.(C) 17 This is my command: Love each other.(D)

The World Hates the Disciples

18 “If the world hates you,(E) keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you(F) out of the world. That is why the world hates you.(G) 20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’[a](H) If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also.(I) If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name,(J) for they do not know the one who sent me.(K) 22 If I had not come and spoken to them,(L) they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.(M) 23 Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. 24 If I had not done among them the works no one else did,(N) they would not be guilty of sin.(O) As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. 25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law:(P) ‘They hated me without reason.’[b](Q)
