Version
Psalm 119:1-8

Aleph[a]

119 Blessed are those whose way is blameless,
who walk in the law of Yahweh.
Blessed are those who keep his testimonies;
they seek him with a whole heart.
They also do no wrong;
they walk in his ways.
You have commanded[b] your precepts,
that we should keep them diligently.
Oh that my ways were steadfast,
to keep your statutes!
Then I would not be ashamed
when I look to all your commands.
I will give you thanks with an upright heart,
when I learn your righteous laws.
I will heed your statutes;
do not utterly forsake me.

Deuteronomy 30:1-9

30 “And then when all of these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse that I have set before you[a] and you call them to mind[b] among the nations there where Yahweh your God has scattered you, and you return to Yahweh and you listen to his voice according to all that I am commanding you today,[c] both you and your children,[d] with all your heart and with all your inner self,[e] and Yahweh your God will restore your fortunes, and he will have compassion upon you, and he will again gather you together[f] from all the peoples where Yahweh your God scattered you there.

Even if you are outcasts[g] at the end of the heavens, even from there Yahweh your God shall gather you, and from there he shall bring you back.[h] And Yahweh your God will bring you to the land that your ancestors[i] had taken possession of,[j] and he will make you successful, and he will make you more numerous than your ancestors.[k]

“And Yahweh your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring to love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your inner self[l] so that you may live.[m] And Yahweh your God will put all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you,[n] on those who harassed you.[o] And you will again listen[p] to the voice of Yahweh, and you will do all his commandments that I am commanding you today.[q] And Yahweh your God will make you prosperous in all your undertakings,[r] and in the fruit of your livestock and in the fruit of your ground abundantly,[s] for Yahweh will again rejoice[t] over you, just as he rejoiced over your ancestors.[u]

Matthew 15:1-9

Human Traditions and God’s Commandments

15 Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying, “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat a meal.”[a] So he answered and[b] said to them, “Why do you also break the commandment of God because of your tradition? For God said, ‘Honor your[c] father and your[d] mother,’[e] and ‘The one who speaks evil of father or mother must certainly die[f].’[g] But you say, ‘Whoever says to his[h] father or his[i] mother, “Whatever benefit you would have received[j] from me is a gift to God,” need not honor his father,’[k] and you make void the word of God for the sake of your tradition. Hypocrites! Isaiah correctly prophesied about you saying,

‘This people honors me with their[l] lips,
    but their heart is far, far away from me,
and they worship me in vain,
    teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”[m]
