Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
Aleph[a]
119 Blessed are those whose way is blameless,
who walk in the law of Yahweh.
2 Blessed are those who keep his testimonies;
they seek him with a whole heart.
3 They also do no wrong;
they walk in his ways.
4 You have commanded[b] your precepts,
that we should keep them diligently.
5 Oh that my ways were steadfast,
to keep your statutes!
6 Then I would not be ashamed
when I look to all your commands.
7 I will give you thanks with an upright heart,
when I learn your righteous laws.
8 I will heed your statutes;
do not utterly forsake me.
30 “And then when all of these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse that I have set before you[a] and you call them to mind[b] among the nations there where Yahweh your God has scattered you, 2 and you return to Yahweh and you listen to his voice according to all that I am commanding you today,[c] both you and your children,[d] with all your heart and with all your inner self,[e] 3 and Yahweh your God will restore your fortunes, and he will have compassion upon you, and he will again gather you together[f] from all the peoples where Yahweh your God scattered you there.
4 “Even if you are outcasts[g] at the end of the heavens, even from there Yahweh your God shall gather you, and from there he shall bring you back.[h] 5 And Yahweh your God will bring you to the land that your ancestors[i] had taken possession of,[j] and he will make you successful, and he will make you more numerous than your ancestors.[k]
6 “And Yahweh your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring to love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your inner self[l] so that you may live.[m] 7 And Yahweh your God will put all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you,[n] on those who harassed you.[o] 8 And you will again listen[p] to the voice of Yahweh, and you will do all his commandments that I am commanding you today.[q] 9 And Yahweh your God will make you prosperous in all your undertakings,[r] and in the fruit of your livestock and in the fruit of your ground abundantly,[s] for Yahweh will again rejoice[t] over you, just as he rejoiced over your ancestors.[u]
Human Traditions and God’s Commandments
15 Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying, 2 “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders?
