Psalm 111

Praise to God for His Work and Commands

111 Praise Yah![a]
I will give thanks to Yahweh with all my heart,
in the assembly of the upright and the congregation.
The works of Yahweh are great,
studied[b] by all who delight in them.
Full of splendor and majesty is his work,
and his righteousness endures forever.
He has made his wonders to be remembered;[c]
Yahweh is gracious and compassionate.
He gives food to those who fear him;
he remembers his covenant forever.
He has declared the power of his works for his people,
by giving to them the inheritance of the nations.
The works of his hands are faithfulness and justice;
all his precepts are reliable.
They are sustained forever and ever,
done with faithfulness and uprightness.
He has sent redemption to his people;
he has commanded his covenant forever;
holy and fearful is his name.
10 The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom;
all who do them[d] have a good understanding.
His praise endures forever.

Numbers 4:34-5:4

34 And Moses and Aaron mustered the leaders of the community according to the house of their families,[a] 35 from those thirty years old[b] and above until fifty years old;[c] everyone who comes to the service to work in the tent of assembly, 36 the ones counted[d] were two thousand seven hundred and fifty. 37 These were those counted of the clans of the Kohathites,[e] everyone who served in the tent of assembly whom Moses and Aaron mustered[f] according to the command[g] of Yahweh by the hand of Moses.[h]

38 And the descendants[i] of Gershon counted according to their clans and according to their families,[j] 39 from those thirty years old[k] and above until fifty years old,[l] everyone who comes to the service to work in the tent of assembly; 40 the ones counted,[m] according to their clans, according to their families,[n] were two thousand six hundred and thirty. 41 These were those counted of the clans of the descendants[o] of Gershon, everyone who serves in the tent of assembly whom Moses and Aaron mustered[p] according to the command[q] of Yahweh.

42 Those counted of the clans of the descendants[r] of Merari according to their clans, according to their families,[s] 43 from those thirty years old[t] and above until fifty years old,[u] everyone who comes to the service to work in the tent of assembly, 44 the ones counted,[v] according to their clans, were three thousand two hundred. 45 These were those counted of the clans of the descendants[w] of Merari, whom Moses and Aaron mustered[x] according to the command[y] of Yahweh by the hand of Moses.[z]

46 All those counted of the Levites whom Moses and Aaron and all the leaders of Israel mustered[aa] according to their clans, according to their families,[ab] 47 from those thirty years old[ac] and above until fifty years old,[ad] everyone who comes to the service to do the work of the service carrying in the tent of assembly, 48 the ones counted[ae] were eighty thousand five hundred and eighty. 49 According to the command[af] of Yahweh by the hand of Moses[ag] they were mustered,[ah] each man according to his service and according to their[ai] service and according to their[aj] burden; and so they were counted by him just as Yahweh commanded Moses.

Rules Concerning Those Unclean

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, “Command the Israelites:[ak] they must send everyone from the camp who is afflicted with a rash,[al] everyone with a fluid discharge, and everyone unclean through contact with a corpse. You will send away both male and female;[am] you will send them outside the camp.[an] They must not make unclean their camps where I am dwelling in their midst.” So the Israelites[ao] did so. They sent them away outside the camp;[ap] just as Yahweh spoke to Moses, so did the Israelites.[aq]

2 Timothy 2:1-7

Exhortation to Be Strong in Grace

You, therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and the things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these things to faithful people who will be competent to teach others also. Suffer together with me as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one who serves as a soldier is entangled in the activities of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him. And also if anyone competes he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. The farmer who works hard must be the first to receive a share of the crops. Consider what I am saying, for the Lord will grant you understanding in all these things.
