Good News Translation (GNT)
Version
Psalm 33:12-22

12 Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord;
    happy are the people he has chosen for his own!

13 The Lord looks down from heaven
    and sees all of us humans.
14 From where he rules, he looks down
    on all who live on earth.
15 He forms all their thoughts
    and knows everything they do.

16 (A)A king does not win because of his powerful army;
    a soldier does not triumph because of his strength.
17 War horses are useless for victory;
    their great strength cannot save.

18 The Lord watches over those who obey him,
    those who trust in his constant love.
19 He saves them from death;
    he keeps them alive in times of famine.

20 We put our hope in the Lord;
    he is our protector and our help.
21 We are glad because of him;
    we trust in his holy name.

22 May your constant love be with us, Lord,
    as we put our hope in you.

Genesis 11:27-32

The Descendants of Terah

27 These are the descendants of Terah, who was the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran was the father of Lot, 28 and Haran died in his hometown of Ur in Babylonia, while his father was still living. 29 Abram married Sarai, and Nahor married Milcah, the daughter of Haran, who was also the father of Iscah. 30 Sarai was not able to have children.

31 Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot, who was the son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, Abram's wife, and with them he left the city of Ur in Babylonia to go to the land of Canaan. They went as far as Haran and settled there. 32 Terah died there at the age of 205.

Matthew 6:19-24

Riches in Heaven(A)

19 (B)“Do not store up riches for yourselves here on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and robbers break in and steal. 20 (C)Instead, store up riches for yourselves in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and robbers cannot break in and steal. 21 For your heart will always be where your riches are.

The Light of the Body(D)

22 “The eyes are like a lamp for the body. If your eyes are sound, your whole body will be full of light; 23 but if your eyes are no good, your body will be in darkness. So if the light in you is darkness, how terribly dark it will be!

God and Possessions(E)

24 “You cannot be a slave of two masters; you will hate one and love the other; you will be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
