119 Blessed are those whose way is blameless,
who walk in the law of Yahweh.
2 Blessed are those who keep his testimonies;
they seek him with a whole heart.
3 They also do no wrong;
they walk in his ways.
4 You have commanded[b] your precepts,
that we should keep them diligently.
5 Oh that my ways were steadfast,
to keep your statutes!
6 Then I would not be ashamed
when I look to all your commands.
7 I will give you thanks with an upright heart,
when I learn your righteous laws.
8 I will heed your statutes;
do not utterly forsake me.
9 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 10 “Speak to the Israelites,[a] saying, ‘Each man that is unclean by a dead person[b] or is on a far journey, you or your descendants,[c] he will observe the Passover of Yahweh. 11 On the second month on the fourteenth day at twilight[d] they will observe it; they will eat it with unleavened bread and bitter plants. 12 They will leave none of it until morning, and they will not break a bone in it; they will observe it according to every decree of the Passover. 13 But the man who is clean and not on a journey, and he fails to observe the Passover, that person will be cut off from the people because he did not present the offering of Yahweh on its appointed time. That man will bear his guilt. 14 If an alien dwells with you he will observe the Passover of Yahweh according to the decree of the Passover and according to its stipulation; thus you will have one decree for you, for the alien and for the native of the land.’”
The Parable of the Good Samaritan
25 And behold, a certain legal expert stood up to test him, saying, “Teacher, what must I do so that I will inherit eternal life?” 26 And he said to him, “What is written in the law? How do you read it?”[a] 27 And he answered and[b] said, “You shall love the Lord your God from all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind,[c] and your neighbor as yourself.”[d] 28 And he said to him, “You have answered correctly. Do this and you will live.”
29 But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 And[e] Jesus replied and[f] said, “A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell into the hands of robbers, who both stripped him and beat him.[g] After[h] inflicting blows on him,[i] they went away, leaving him[j] half dead. 31 Now by coincidence a certain priest was going down on that road, and when he[k] saw him, he passed by on the opposite side. 32 And in the same way also a Levite, when he[l] came down to the place[m] and saw him,[n] passed by on the opposite side. 33 But a certain Samaritan who was traveling came up to him and, when he[o] saw him,[p] had compassion. 34 And he came up and[q] bandaged his wounds, pouring on olive oil and wine, and he put him on his own animal and[r] brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 And on the next day, he took out two denarii and[s] gave them[t][u] to the innkeeper, and said, “Take care of him, and whatever you spend in addition, I will repay to you when I return. 36 Which of these three do you suppose became a neighbor of the man who fell among the robbers?” 37 So he said, “The one who showed mercy to him.” And Jesus said to him, “You go and do likewise.”
