Version
Psalm 107:1-3

BOOK FIVE(A)

In Praise of God's Goodness

107 (B)“Give thanks to the Lord, because he is good;
    his love is eternal!”
Repeat these words in praise to the Lord,
    all you whom he has saved.
He has rescued you from your enemies
    and has brought you back from foreign countries,
    from east and west, from north and south.[a]

Psalm 107:23-32

23 Some sailed over the ocean in ships,
    earning their living on the seas.
24 They saw what the Lord can do,
    his wonderful acts on the seas.
25 He commanded, and a mighty wind began to blow
    and stirred up the waves.
26 The ships were lifted high in the air
    and plunged down into the depths.
In such danger the sailors lost their courage;
27     they stumbled and staggered like drunks—
    all their skill was useless.
28 Then in their trouble they called to the Lord,
    and he saved them from their distress.
29 He calmed the raging storm,
    and the waves became quiet.
30 They were glad because of the calm,
    and he brought them safe to the port they wanted.
31 They must thank the Lord for his constant love,
    for the wonderful things he did for them.
32 They must proclaim his greatness in the assembly of the people
    and praise him before the council of the leaders.

Job 37:1-13

37 The storm makes my heart beat wildly.
Listen, all of you, to the voice of God,
    to the thunder that comes from his mouth.
He sends the lightning across the sky,
    from one end of the earth to the other.
Then the roar of his voice is heard,
    the majestic sound of thunder,
    and all the while the lightning flashes.
At God's command amazing things happen,
    wonderful things that we can't understand.
He commands snow to fall on the earth,
    and sends torrents of drenching rain.
He brings our work to a stop;
    he shows us what he can do.[a]
The wild animals go to their dens.
The storm winds come from the south,
    and the biting cold from the north.
10 The breath of God freezes the waters,
    and turns them to solid ice.
11 Lightning flashes from the clouds,[b]
12     as they move at God's will.
They do all that God commands,
    everywhere throughout the world.
13 God sends rain to water the earth;
    he may send it to punish us,
    or to show us his favor.

Luke 21:25-28

The Coming of the Son of Man(A)

25 (B)“There will be strange things happening to the sun, the moon, and the stars. On earth whole countries will be in despair, afraid of the roar of the sea and the raging tides. 26 People will faint from fear as they wait for what is coming over the whole earth, for the powers in space will be driven from their courses. 27 (C)Then the Son of Man will appear, coming in a cloud with great power and glory. 28 When these things begin to happen, stand up and raise your heads, because your salvation is near.”
