Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
16 For I am not ashamed-of the good-news, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone believing[a]— both to the Jew first and to the Greek. 17 For the righteousness of [b] God is revealed in it from faith to faith, just as it has been written [in Hab 2:4]: “But the righteous one shall live by faith”.
It Comes As an Undeserved Gift Through Faith In Christ, Who Satisfied God’s Wrath
22 And it is the righteousness of God through faith[a] in Jesus Christ for all the ones believing! For there is no distinction, 23 for all sinned and are coming-short-of the glory of God, 24 being declared-righteous as-a-gift[b] by His grace through the redemption in Christ Jesus, 25 Whom God set-forth[c] as that-which-satisfies[d] [His wrath] through faith, in[e] His blood— for the demonstration[f] of His righteousness because of the passing-by of the sins having previously-taken-place 26 in the forbearance[g] of God; for the demonstration of His righteousness at the present time, so that He might be righteous and declaring-righteous the one of [h] faith in Jesus.
There Can Be No Boasting In Our Works: It Is By Faith For All!
27 Where then is the boasting? It was shut-out[i]. Through what kind of law[j]? Of works? No, but through a law of faith. 28 For we consider a person to be declared-righteous by faith apart from works of the Law.
29 Or is He the God of Jews only[a]? Is He not also the God of Gentiles? Yes, of Gentiles also, 30 since there is one God— Who will declare-righteous the circumcised by faith, and the uncircumcised through the same[b] faith. 31 Do we then nullify the Law through the faith? May it never be! On the contrary, we establish the Law.
Not Everyone Talking About God Knows Him. Only Those Doing His Will Enter His Kingdom
21 “Not everyone saying to Me, ‘Lord, Lord’, will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of My Father in the heavens. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and cast-out demons in Your name, and do many miracles[a] in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare[b] to them that ‘I never knew[c] you. Depart from Me, ones working lawlessness’. 24 Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and is doing them will be-like a wise[d] man who built his house upon the bed-rock. 25 And the rain came down, and the rivers[e] came, and the winds blew— and they fell against that house. And it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the bed-rock. 26 And everyone hearing these words of Mine and not doing them will be like a foolish man who built his house upon the sand. 27 And the rain came down, and the rivers came, and the winds blew— and they struck-against that house. And it fell, and the falling[f] of it was great”.
The Works of The King: Divine Power In Action
28 And it came about that when Jesus finished these words, the crowds were astounded[g] at His teaching. 29 For He was teaching them as One having authority, and not as their scribes.
