31 To David himself, understanding. Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

² Blessed is the man to whom the Lord hath not imputed sin, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

³ Because I was silent my bones grew old; whilst I cried out all the day long.

⁴ For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: I am turned in my anguish, whilst the thorn is fastened.

⁵ I have acknowledged my sin to thee, and my injustice I have not concealed. I said I will confess against myself my injustice to the Lord: and thou hast forgiven the wickedness of my sin.

24 And he said to Moses: Come up to the Lord, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abiu, and seventy of the ancients of Israel, and you shall adore afar off.

² And Moses alone shall come up to the Lord, but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people come up with him.

³ So Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice: We will do all the words of the Lord, which he hath spoken.

⁴ And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord: and rising in the morning he built an altar at the foot of the mount, and twelve titles according to the twelve tribes of Israel.

⁵ And he sent young men of the children of Israel, and they offered holocausts, and sacrificed pacific victims of calves to the Lord.

⁶ Then Moses took half of the blood, and put it into bowls: and the rest he poured upon the altar.

⁷ And taking the book of the covenant, he read it in the hearing of the people: and they said: All things that the Lord hath spoken we will do, we will be obedient.

⁸ And he took the blood and sprinkled it upon the people, and he said: This is the blood of the covenant which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these words.

¹⁷ But if thou art called a Jew and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,

¹⁸ And knowest his will, and approvest the more profitable things, being instructed by the law,

¹⁹ Art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them that are in darkness,

²⁰ An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of infants, having the form of knowledge and of truth in the law.

²¹ Thou therefore that teachest another, teachest not thyself: thou that preachest that men should not steal, stealest:

²² Thou that sayest, men should not commit adultery, committest adultery: thou that abhorrest idols, committest sacrilege:

²³ Thou that makest thy boast of the law, by transgression of the law dishonourest God.

²⁴ (For the name of God through you is blasphemed among the Gentiles, as it is written.)

²⁵ Circumcision profiteth indeed, if thou keep the law; but if thou be a transgressor of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.

²⁶ If, then, the uncircumcised keep the justices of the law, shall not this uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?

²⁷ And shall not that which by nature is uncircumcision, if it fulfill the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision art a transgressor of the law?

²⁸ For it is not he is a Jew, who is so outwardly; nor is that circumcision which is outwardly in the flesh:

²⁹ But he is a Jew, that is one inwardly; and the circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
