Psalm 80

A Prayer for Restoration

For the choir director: according to “The Lilies.”[a] A testimony of Asaph.(A) A psalm.

Listen, Shepherd of Israel,
who leads Joseph like a flock;(B)
You who sit enthroned on the cherubim,(C)
rise up(D)
before Ephraim,
Benjamin, and Manasseh.[b](E)
Rally Your power and come to save us.(F)
Restore us, God;
look on us with favor,
and we will be saved.(G)

Lord God of Hosts,
how long will You be angry
with Your people’s prayers?(H)
You fed them the bread of tears
and gave them a full measure[c]
of tears to drink.(I)
You make us quarrel with our neighbors;
our enemies make fun of us.(J)
Restore us, God of Hosts;
look on us with favor, and we will be saved.(K)

Psalm 80:17-19

17 Let Your hand be with the man at Your right hand,
with the son of man
You have made strong for Yourself.(A)
18 Then we will not turn away from You;
revive us, and we will call on Your name.(B)
19 Restore us, Yahweh, the God of Hosts;(C)
look on us with favor, and we will be saved.(D)

Zechariah 13

God’s People Cleansed

13 “On that day a fountain will be opened for the house of David and for the residents of Jerusalem, to wash away sin and impurity.(A) On that day”—this is the declaration of the Lord of Hosts—“I will erase the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer be remembered. I will remove the prophets[a] and the unclean spirit from the land. If a man still prophesies, his father and his mother who bore him will say to him: You cannot remain alive because you have spoken falsely in the name of Yahweh. When he prophesies, his father and his mother who bore him will pierce him through.(B) On that day every prophet will be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies; they will not put on a hairy cloak(C) in order to deceive. He will say: I am not a prophet; I work the land, for a man purchased[b] me as a servant since my youth.(D) If someone asks him: What are these wounds(E) on your chest?[c]—then he will answer: I received the wounds in the house of my friends.

Sword, awake against My shepherd,
against the man who is My associate—
this is the declaration of the Lord of Hosts.
Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered;(F)
I will also turn My hand against the little ones.
In the whole land—
this is the Lord’s declaration—
two-thirds[d] will be cut off and die,
but a third will be left in it.
I will put this third through the fire;
I will refine them as silver is refined
and test them as gold is tested.
They will call on My name,
and I will answer them.
I will say: They are My people,
and they will say: Yahweh is our God.”

Revelation 14:6-13

The Proclamation of Three Angels

Then I saw another angel flying high overhead,(A) having the eternal gospel to announce to the inhabitants of the earth—to every nation, tribe, language, and people.(B) He spoke with a loud voice: “Fear God and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come. Worship the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”

A second angel[a] followed, saying: “It has fallen, Babylon the Great has fallen,[b] who made all nations drink the wine of her sexual immorality,[c] which brings wrath.”(C)

And a third angel[d] followed them and spoke with a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he will also drink the wine of God’s wrath, which is mixed full strength in the cup of His anger.(D) He will be tormented with fire and sulfur(E) in the sight of the holy angels and in the sight of the Lamb, 11 and the smoke of their torment will go up forever and ever.(F) There is no rest[e] day or night for those who worship the beast and his image, or anyone who receives the mark of his name. 12 This demands the perseverance[f] of the saints,(G) who keep God’s commands and their faith in Jesus.”[g]

13 Then I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write: The dead who die in the Lord from now on are blessed.”(H)

“Yes,” says the Spirit, “let them rest from their labors, for their works follow them!”
