Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
Psalm 95
Worship and Warning
1 Come, let us shout joyfully to the Lord,
shout triumphantly to the rock of our salvation!(A)
2 Let us enter His presence with thanksgiving;
let us shout triumphantly to Him in song.(B)
3 For the Lord is a great God,
a great King above all gods.(C)
4 The depths of the earth are in His hand,
and the mountain peaks are His.(D)
5 The sea is His; He made it.
His hands formed the dry land.(E)
6 Come, let us worship and bow down;
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.(F)
7 For He is our God,
and we are the people of His pasture,
the sheep under His care.[a](G)
Today, if you hear His voice:(H)
21 Remember these things, Jacob,
and Israel, for you are My servant;
I formed you, you are My servant;
Israel, you will never be forgotten by Me.[a](A)
22 I have swept away your transgressions like a cloud,(B)
and your sins like a mist.
Return to Me,(C)
for I have redeemed you.(D)
23 Rejoice, heavens,(E) for the Lord has acted;
shout, depths of the earth.
Break out into singing, mountains,
forest, and every tree in it.
For the Lord has redeemed Jacob,
and glorifies Himself through Israel.(F)
Restoration of Israel through Cyrus
24 This is what the Lord, your Redeemer(G) who formed you from the womb,(H) says:
I am Yahweh, who made everything;
who stretched out the heavens by Myself;(I)
who alone spread out the earth;
25 who destroys the omens of the false prophets
and makes fools of diviners;
who confounds the wise
and makes their knowledge foolishness;(J)
26 who confirms the message of His servant
and fulfills the counsel of His messengers;
who says to Jerusalem, “She will be inhabited,”
and to the cities of Judah, “They will be rebuilt,”
and I will restore her ruins;
27 who says to the depths of the sea, “Be dry,”
and I will dry up your rivers;
28 who says to Cyrus,(K) “My shepherd,
he will fulfill all My pleasure”(L)
and says to Jerusalem, “She will be rebuilt,”(M)
and of the temple, “Its foundation will be laid.”
True Relationships
46 He(A) was still speaking to the crowds when suddenly His mother and brothers were standing outside wanting to speak to Him.(B) 47 Someone told Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to You.”[a]
48 But He replied to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” 49 And stretching out His hand toward His disciples,(C) He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven, that person is My brother and sister and mother.”(D)
