Psalm 119:41-48

Vav

41 May Your (A)lovingkindnesses also come to me, O Yahweh,
Your salvation (B)according to Your [a]word;
42 So I will have an (C)answer for him who (D)reproaches me,
For I trust in Your word.
43 And do not take away the word of truth utterly from my mouth,
For I [b](E)wait for Your judgments.
44 So I will (F)keep Your law continually,
Forever and ever.
45 And I will (G)walk in a wide place,
For I (H)seek Your precepts.
46 I will also speak of Your testimonies (I)before kings
And I shall not be ashamed.
47 I shall [c](J)delight in Your commandments,
Which I (K)love.
48 And I shall lift up my hands to Your commandments,
Which I (L)love;
And I will (M)muse on Your statutes.

Deuteronomy 6:1-9

The Commandment to Love Yahweh

“Now this is the commandment, the statutes and the judgments, which Yahweh your God has commanded me to teach you, that you might do it in the land where you are going over to possess it, so that you and your son and your grandson might (A)fear Yahweh your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I am commanding you, (B)all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. O Israel, you shall listen and [a]be careful to do it, that (C)it may be well with you and that you may multiply greatly, just as Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in (D)a land flowing with milk and honey.

(E)Hear, O Israel! [b]Yahweh is our God, (F)Yahweh is one! (G)You shall love Yahweh your God (H)with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. (I)These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. (J)You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. (K)You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as [c]phylacteries between your eyes. (L)You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Deuteronomy 6:20-25

20 (A)When your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What do the testimonies and the statutes and the judgments mean which Yahweh our God commanded you?’ 21 then you shall say to your son, ‘We were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt, and Yahweh brought us from Egypt with a strong hand. 22 Moreover, Yahweh showed great and calamitous signs and wonders before our eyes against Egypt, Pharaoh, and all his household; 23 but He brought us out from there in order to bring us in, to give us the land which He had sworn to our fathers.’ 24 So Yahweh commanded us to do all these statutes, (B)to fear Yahweh our God for our good all our days and (C)for our survival, as it is today. 25 (D)And it will be righteousness for us if we [a]are careful to do all this commandment before Yahweh our God, just as He commanded us.

James 2:8-13

If, however, you (A)are fulfilling the [a]royal law according to the Scripture, “(B)You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. But if you (C)show partiality, you are committing sin, being convicted by the [b]law as transgressors. 10 For whoever keeps the whole [c]law and yet (D)stumbles in one point, he has become (E)guilty of all. 11 For He who said, “(F)Do not commit adultery,” also said, “(G)Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but murder, you have become a transgressor of the [d]law. 12 So speak and so act as those who are to be judged by (H)the law of freedom. 13 For (I)judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy [e]triumphs over judgment.
