BOOK 1

The Righteous and the Wicked Contrasted.

How blessed is the man who (A)does not walk in the (B)counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the [a](C)path of sinners,
Nor (D)sit in the seat of scoffers!
But his (E)delight is (F)in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates (G)day and (H)night.
He will be like (I)a tree firmly planted by [b]streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its [c]leaf does not wither;
And [d]in whatever he does, (J)he prospers.

The wicked are not so,
But they are like (K)chaff which the wind drives away.
Therefore (L)the wicked will not stand in the (M)judgment,
Nor sinners in (N)the assembly of the righteous.
For the Lord [e](O)knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of (P)the wicked will perish.

Deuteronomy 9:25-10:5

25 (A)So I fell down before the Lord the forty days and nights, which I [a]did because the Lord had said He would destroy you. 26 (B)I prayed to the Lord and said, ‘O Lord God, do not destroy Your people, even Your inheritance, whom You have redeemed through Your greatness, whom You have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand. 27 Remember Your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; do not look at the stubbornness of this people or at their wickedness or their sin. 28 Otherwise the land from which You brought us may say, “(C)Because the Lord was not able to bring them into the land which He had [b]promised them and because He hated them He has brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.” 29 Yet they are Your people, even (D)Your inheritance, whom You have brought out by Your (E)great power and Your outstretched arm.’

The Tablets Rewritten

10 “At that time the Lord said to me, ‘(F)Cut out for yourself two tablets of stone like the former ones, and come up to Me on the mountain, and (G)make an ark of wood for yourself. (H)I will write on the tablets the words that were on the former tablets which you shattered, and (I)you shall put them in the ark.’ So (J)I made an ark of acacia wood and (K)cut out two tablets of stone like the former ones, and went up on the mountain with the two tablets in my hand. He wrote on the tablets, like the former writing, (L)the Ten [c]Commandments (M)which the Lord had spoken to you on the mountain from the midst of the fire (N)on the day of the assembly; and the Lord gave them to me. Then I turned and (O)came down from the mountain and (P)put the tablets in the ark which I had made; (Q)and there they are, as the Lord commanded me.”

Titus 2:7-8

in all things show yourself to be (A)an example of good deeds, with [a]purity in doctrine, dignified, sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so (B)that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.

Titus 2:11-15

11 For the grace of God has (A)appeared, [a](B)bringing salvation to all men, 12 [b]instructing us to deny ungodliness and (C)worldly desires and (D)to live sensibly, righteously and godly (E)in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and the (F)appearing of the glory of [c](G)our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, 14 who (H)gave Himself for us (I)to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to (J)purify for Himself a (K)people for His own possession, (L)zealous for good deeds.

15 These things speak and (M)exhort and (N)reprove with all [d]authority. (O)Let no one disregard you.
