Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
A Call to Worship the Lord the Righteous Judge.
96 (A)Sing to the Lord a (B)new song;
Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Sing to the Lord, bless His name;
(C)Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day.
3 Tell of (D)His glory among the nations,
His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.
4 For (E)great is the Lord and (F)greatly to be praised;
He is to be (G)feared (H)above all gods.
5 For (I)all the gods of the peoples are [a]idols,
But (J)the Lord made the heavens.
6 (K)Splendor and majesty are before Him,
Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.
10 Say among the nations, “(A)The Lord reigns;
Indeed, the (B)world is firmly established, it will not be moved;
He will (C)judge the peoples with [a]equity.”
11 Let the (D)heavens be glad, and let the (E)earth rejoice;
Let (F)the sea [b]roar, and [c]all it contains;
12 Let the (G)field exult, and all that is in it.
Then all the (H)trees of the forest will sing for joy
13 Before the Lord, (I)for He is coming,
For He is coming to judge the earth.
(J)He will judge the world in righteousness
And the peoples in His faithfulness.
Micah’s Idolatry
17 Now there was a man of the hill country of Ephraim whose name was Micah. 2 He said to his mother, “The eleven hundred pieces of silver which were taken from you, about which you uttered a curse [a]in my hearing, behold, the silver is with me; I took it.” And his mother said, “Blessed be my son by the Lord.” 3 He then returned the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother, and his mother said, “I wholly dedicate the silver from my hand to the Lord for my son (A)to make a graven image and a molten image; now therefore, I will return [b]them to you.” 4 So when he returned the silver to his mother, his mother took two hundred pieces of silver and gave them to the silversmith who made [c]them into a graven image and a molten image, and [d]they were in the house of Micah. 5 And the man Micah had a [e](B)shrine and he made an (C)ephod and [f](D)household idols and [g]consecrated one of his sons, (E)that he might become his priest. 6 In those days (F)there was no king in Israel; (G)every man did what was right in his own eyes.
9 I wrote something to the church; but Diotrephes, who loves to (A)be first among them, does not accept [a]what we say. 10 For this reason, (B)if I come, I will call attention to his deeds which he does, unjustly accusing us with wicked words; and not satisfied with this, he himself does not (C)receive the (D)brethren, either, and he forbids those who desire to do so and (E)puts them out of the church.
11 Beloved, (F)do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. (G)The one who does good is of God; (H)the one who does evil has not seen God. 12 Demetrius (I)has received a good testimony from everyone, and from the truth itself; and we add our testimony, and (J)you know that our testimony is true.
