Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
Ascribe to Yahweh Glory and Strength
96 (A)Sing to Yahweh a (B)new song;
Sing to Yahweh, all the earth.
2 Sing to Yahweh, bless His name;
(C)Proclaim good news of His salvation from day to day.
3 Recount (D)His glory among the nations,
His wondrous deeds among all the peoples.
4 For (E)great is Yahweh and (F)greatly to be praised;
He is [a]more [b](G)fearsome (H)than all gods.
5 For (I)all the gods of the peoples are [c]idols,
But (J)Yahweh made the heavens.
6 (K)Splendor and majesty are before Him,
Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.
10 Say among the nations, “(A)Yahweh [a]reigns;
Indeed, the (B)world is established, it will not be shaken;
He will (C)render justice to the peoples with [b]equity.”
11 Let the (D)heavens be glad, and let the (E)earth rejoice;
Let (F)the sea [c]roar, as well as its fullness;
12 Let the (G)field exult, and all that is in it.
Then all the (H)trees of the forest will sing for joy
13 Before Yahweh, (I)for He is coming,
For He is coming to judge the earth.
(J)He will judge the world in righteousness
And the peoples in His faithfulness.
Micah’s Idolatry
17 Now there was a man of the hill country of Ephraim whose name was Micah. 2 He said to his mother, “The 1,100 pieces of silver which were taken from you, about which you uttered a curse and spoke of it [a]in my hearing, behold, the silver is with me; it was I who took it.” And his mother said, “Blessed be my son by Yahweh.” 3 And he then returned the 1,100 pieces of silver to his mother, and his mother said, “I wholly set apart the silver from my hand as holy to Yahweh for my son (A)to make a graven image and a molten image; so now I will return [b]them to you.” 4 So he returned the silver to his mother, and his mother took 200 pieces of silver and gave them to the silversmith. And he made [c]them into a graven image and a molten image, and [d]they were in the house of Micah. 5 And the man Micah had a [e](B)shrine, and he made an (C)ephod and [f](D)household idols and [g]ordained one of his sons, (E)and he became his priest. 6 In those days (F)there was no king in Israel; (G)every man did what was right in his own eyes.
9 I wrote something to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to (A)be first among them, does not welcome [a]what we say. 10 For this reason, (B)if I come, I will bring to remembrance his deeds which he does, unjustly disparaging us with wicked words. And not satisfied with this, he himself does not (C)welcome the (D)brothers either, and he forbids those who want to do so and (E)puts them out of the church.
11 Beloved, (F)do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. (G)The one who does good is of God; (H)the one who does evil has not seen God. 12 Demetrius (I)has received a good witness from everyone, and from the truth itself; and we add our witness, and (J)you know that our witness is true.
