Psalm 25:1-9

A Plea for Deliverance and Forgiveness

A Psalm of David.

25 To (A)You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
O my God, I (B)trust in You;
Let me not be ashamed;
(C)Let not my enemies triumph over me.
Indeed, let no one who [a]waits on You be ashamed;
Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause.

(D)Show me Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
On You I wait all the day.

Remember, O Lord, (E)Your tender mercies and Your lovingkindnesses,
For they are from of old.
Do not remember (F)the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions;
(G)According to Your mercy remember me,
For Your goodness’ sake, O Lord.

Good and upright is the Lord;
Therefore He teaches sinners in the way.
The humble He guides in justice,
And the humble He teaches His way.

Ezekiel 18:5-18

But if a man is just
And does what is lawful and right;
(A)If he has not eaten [a]on the mountains,
Nor lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel,
Nor (B)defiled his neighbor’s wife,
Nor approached (C)a woman during her impurity;
If he has not (D)oppressed anyone,
But has restored to the debtor his (E)pledge;
Has robbed no one by violence,
But has (F)given his bread to the hungry
And covered the naked with (G)clothing;
If he has not [b]exacted (H)usury
Nor taken any increase,
But has withdrawn his hand from iniquity
And (I)executed true [c]judgment between man and man;
If he has walked in My statutes
And kept My judgments faithfully—
He is just;
He shall surely (J)live!”
Says the Lord God.

10 “If he begets a son who is a robber
Or (K)a shedder of blood,
Who does any of these things
11 And does none of those duties,
But has eaten [d]on the mountains
Or defiled his neighbor’s wife;
12 If he has oppressed the poor and needy,
Robbed by violence,
Not restored the pledge,
Lifted his eyes to the idols,
Or (L)committed abomination;
13 If he has exacted usury
Or taken increase—
Shall he then live?
He shall not live!
If he has done any of these abominations,
He shall surely die;
(M)His blood shall be upon him.

14 If, however, he begets a son
Who sees all the sins which his father has done,
And considers but does not do likewise;
15 (N)Who has not eaten [e]on the mountains,
Nor lifted his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel,
Nor defiled his neighbor’s wife;
16 Has not oppressed anyone,
Nor withheld a pledge,
Nor robbed by violence,
But has given his bread to the hungry
And covered the naked with clothing;
17 Who has withdrawn his hand from [f]the poor
And not received usury or increase,
But has executed My judgments
And walked in My statutes—
He shall not die for the iniquity of his father;
He shall surely live!

18 As for his father,
Because he cruelly oppressed,
Robbed his brother by violence,
And did what is not good among his people,
Behold, (O)he shall die for his iniquity.

Acts 13:32-41

32 And we declare to you glad tidings—(A)that promise which was made to the fathers. 33 God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm:

(B)‘You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.’

34 And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to [a]corruption, He has spoken thus:

(C)‘I will give you the sure [b]mercies of David.’

35 Therefore He also says in another Psalm:

(D)‘You will not allow Your Holy One to see corruption.’

36 “For David, after he had served [c]his own generation by the will of God, (E)fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and [d]saw corruption; 37 but He whom God raised up [e]saw no corruption. 38 Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that (F)through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; 39 and (G)by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. 40 Beware therefore, lest what has been spoken in the prophets come upon you:

41 ‘Behold,(H) you despisers,
Marvel and perish!
For I work a work in your days,
A work which you will by no means believe,
Though one were to declare it to you.’
