Psalm 119:33-40

He.

33 (A)Teach me, O Lord, the way of Your statutes,
And I shall observe it to the end.
34 (B)Give me understanding, that I may (C)observe Your law
And keep it (D)with all my heart.
35 Make me walk in the (E)path of Your commandments,
For I (F)delight in it.
36 (G)Incline my heart to Your testimonies
And not to (H)dishonest gain.
37 Turn away my (I)eyes from looking at vanity,
And (J)revive me in Your ways.
38 (K)Establish Your [a]word to Your servant,
[b]As that which produces reverence for You.
39 (L)Turn away my reproach which I dread,
For Your ordinances are good.
40 Behold, I (M)long for Your precepts;
Revive me through Your righteousness.

Ezekiel 33:1-6

The Watchman’s Duty

33 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Son of man, speak to the (A)sons of your people and say to them, ‘If I bring a sword upon a land, and the people of the land take one man from among them and make him their watchman, and he sees the sword coming upon the land and (B)blows on the trumpet and warns the people, then he who hears the sound of the trumpet and (C)does not take warning, and a sword comes and takes him away, his (D)blood will be on his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet but did not take warning; his blood will be on himself. But had he taken warning, he would have (E)delivered his life. But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet and the people are not warned, and a sword comes and takes a person from them, he is (F)taken away [a]in his iniquity; but his (G)blood I will require from the watchman’s hand.’

Matthew 23:29-36

29 (A)Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous, 30 and say, ‘If we had been living in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ 31 So you testify against yourselves, that you (B)are [a]sons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 Fill up, then, the measure of the guilt of your fathers. 33 You serpents, (C)you brood of vipers, how [b]will you escape the [c]sentence of [d](D)hell?

34 (E)Therefore, behold, (F)I am sending you prophets and wise men and scribes; some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will (G)scourge in your synagogues, and (H)persecute from city to city, 35 so that upon you may fall the guilt of all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous (I)Abel to the blood of Zechariah, the (J)son of Berechiah, whom (K)you murdered between the [e]temple and the altar. 36 Truly I say to you, all these things will come upon (L)this generation.
