Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
26 Judge me, O LORD, for I have walked in my innocence. My trust has also been in the LORD. Therefore, I shall not slide.
2 Test me, O LORD, and try me. Examine my core and my heart.
3 For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes. Therefore, I have walked in Your truth.
4 I have not dwelt with frivolous people, nor kept company with the deceitful.
5 I have hated the assembly of the evil and have not kept company with the wicked.
6 I will wash my hands in innocence, O LORD, and surround Your altar.
7 So that I may declare with the voice of thanksgiving and set forth all Your wondrous works.
8 O LORD, I have loved the habitation of Your house, and the place where Your honor dwells.
13 Then I answered, “Ah, LORD God, behold, the prophets say to them, ‘You shall not see the sword, nor shall famine come upon you. But I will give you assured peace in this place.’”
14 Then the LORD said to me, “The prophets prophesy lies in My Name. I have not sent them, nor did I Command them, nor did I speak to them. They prophesy to you a false vision, and divination, and vanity, and deceitfulness of their own heart.”
15 Therefore thus says the LORD: “Concerning the prophets that prophesy in My Name whom I have not sent, yet they say, ‘Sword and famine shall not be in this land,’ by sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.
16 “And the people to whom these prophets prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem, because of the famine and the sword, and there shall be no one to bury them and their wives and their sons and their daughters. For I will pour their wickedness upon them.
17 “Therefore, you shall say this Word to them, ‘Let my eyes drop down tears night and day without ceasing. For the virgin daughter of my people is destroyed with a great destruction, with a very grievous plague.
18 ‘For if I go into the field, behold the slain with the sword. And if I enter into the city, also behold those who are sick from hunger. Moreover, the Prophet and the priest go wandering into a land that they do not know.’”
5 Therefore, be imitators of God, as beloved children.
2 And walk in love, just as Christ has loved us and has given Himself for us as an offering and a sacrifice of a sweet-smelling savor to God.
3 But do not let fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness even be named among you (as is also becoming to saints),
4 nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse joking (which are not fitting); but rather the giving of thanks.
5 For this you know: that no fornicator, nor impure or covetous person, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ, and of God.
6 Let no one deceive you with empty words. For the wrath of God comes upon the children of disobedience.
